svx vs. is300. 1.8t passat

which car is faster??

mods on the cars:
my svx: real cold air intake, free flowing exhuast..1996
1998 vw passat 1.8t: 5sp, cold air intake, exhuast
is-300: cold air intake, auto

these kids with the cars think they will beat my svx in a race, i know ill win in a circuit but will i win with speed?? dont hesitate to tell me if my svx will get smashed...

Before you hit the finish line, your wheel bearings will blow out. I'd say, concede.

im not following on what u said, could u explain??

Faster? In what sort of contest? Stoplight to stoplight(stop right there unless you want to deal with the mods)? Reno to Vegas? :) Drag strip? Old R&T specs show the IS300 at 7.0sec 0-60 and 15.4sec 1/4mi. Unable to find Passat w/1.8T but new Beetle with same motor would not be as quick, in a lighter car. at 7.6 sec 0-60 and 15.8 1/4mi. Can be chipped to go like mad though.

These specs from 2005 issue, comparing to a car 9 yrs older. Remember the SVX is not a "dragster", or a true "sports car", but in it's element has few peers for under $40K.

you'd do alright. are you a skilled driver?

solarsvx 11-15-2007 01:53 PM

start mentioning some fast cars here

none of those even break the 15 second barrier in the 1/4 mile

lets talk real cars

Everyone asks if the svx is fast...I tell them it is quite slow. eeveryone defines "fast" diffrently and my idea of fast isnt quite the same as it'll be for someone owning a vw or a ferrari.

That being said, the svx should be on par with the is...that'd be a nice show at the drag strip.

a new Toyota RAV4 will beat you in a race.

the SVX is not a dragster, but will cruise highways comfortably, as it was designed.

or Raining >.> for you all AWD >.> but has anyone compared the FWD vs. AWD? I know it is assumed FWD is faster from the line but blah

immortal_suby 11-15-2007 07:32 PM

With all the problems your car has you are already street racing it? Or is that - all of your car's problems are caused by street racing it.
Either way -
Fail.
