New Pics of My SVX - Ceika Coilovers Installed

I bought a set of the "hard to get" Ceika coilovers about two years ago, but they've just been sitting in my office staring at me since then. This week, Nate finally found the time to install them for me, and I snapped a few pics. The ride is fantastic, and the cornering is excellent. They are a very high quality item, and I'm very happy with them. The process of buying them was awful as they took several months to arrive and the owner of Ceika constantly lied about the status. I had virtually given up on ever receiving them when they finally showed up.

A comparison of the new Ceika Coilover to the old tired rusty strut with the old tired rusty motorsport warehouse spring on it.

And pics showing the stance. I have the front set as low as it'll go without having to remove the mounts for the sway bar. It is possible to go lower, but you'd lose the sway bar mount. B4You has been running STi coilovers with no sway bar without issue, so It probably wouldn't be too big of a deal, however I think it's low enough like this. The rear is set a bit higher to give it a slight rake, which is what I was looking for. Because of the SVX's roofline, I feel that it tends to look a bit frumpy if the front and rear sit level.

And here are a few interior pics since I took some time to clean it pretty well when I reassembled it from installing the rear struts. Also, I just got the car back from the body shop after having damage fixed from a deer impact, and there was a lot of dust and stuff inside that I had to clean out.

I really appreciate the compliment, Dan. I go back and forth between loving my SVX and becoming bored with it. After getting it back from the body shop last week after dealing with some deer damage, I have had some renewed love for it, and have really loved driving it around town. That's what motivated me to sort out some of this stuff lately.

After this happened, I really lost interest in the car for a month or so until I got it fixed:

Two years already? Seems like it wasn't that long ago.

Looks great, man. Even just that first inch lower in the front makes a big difference with how the car looks.

I was just thinking about it. It will be two years in December since I ordered them, I think. So not quite 2 years. It did take them 6 months to arrive, too.

It's official: there's no such thing as too many SVX photos. :)

Looking good.

This is a tough one because ride feel and quality are definitely a very subjective topic. What I can say is that the car rides similarly to how it did with the stock struts and motorsport springs. I believe that they were a little stiffer than stock, but I haven't driven an SVX with stock suspension in years, so I really can't remember. My SVX with its Ceika coilovers actually rides more smoothly than my Volvo S80, though I have done a lot of suspension work to the S80 as well. I have the dampers set on the softest settings on the ceikas, and when I ordered them, I told the guy that I would like a ride as close to stock as possible.

I think the best way to describe the ride would be "like stock, but tighter." The biggest thing I've noticed is how quiet it is compared to my old suspension. It was really rattly and noisy.

Mike,

Can you post some pics of damper adjustments on the front and rear? I seem to remember that the rears can be adjusted without removing them (?)

Thanks.
Bill

Bill-

The front dampers are adjusted by the black knobs in the center of the top of the assembly as shown here:

The rear dampers have adjusters which are mounted on long cables which allowed them to be routed into the trunk so that they can be adjusted without removing the rear deck.
