Can you drop this engine into an SVX?

It looks like it comes with everything including the ECU. I suspect, however, that this ECU is not compatible with our TCUs (or maybe it is compatible with the OBD2 ones...). What would be involved in such a swap? If I am correct, these engines were rated at 300HP. Just curious..... |

Cool ! You know what they say with enough money and muscle any thing can be done . What is the advantage? Looks like less weight and the turbo boost. Sounds like a plan to me <LOL>

Physically fitting it is the easy part. Forget about trying to get it to talk to our TCU. Swap it to an MT and be done with it. Then all you need to do is figure out the wiring to the gauge cluster and eliminate or fake all the various inputs that some of the newer ECU's look for.

You could swap that into an SVX, but you'd almost definitely need an M/T. Also, I think a 2.5T might be a better fit for the SVX because it should have more low-end torque, which would make it more dailyable.

If it has only 40 more hp, i think it would be easier and better to mod our existing engine. Supercharge it!

I believe that has a drive by wire throttle body. That would be a very difficult hurdle to overcome.

If you go this route, get one with a complete wiring harness. There appear to be plenty of them on Ebay these days.
I made such a swap into a previous Impreza and it was a piece of cake due to it having the complete harness. Would have been a nightmare without... Quote:
