o2 sensors killing performance
 

when i disconected my battery my ecu got reset. i tokk it out for a spin and it ran like a bat out of heck. Then my cel came on and it is reading the same codes, both o2 sensors and both knock sensors. i get the feeling that the o2 sensors are bad and are fouling up the a/f ratio and causing the knock sensor to go off. any advice? i also get the feeling that this is the cause of my massive power loss. any agreements or disagreements?? please give me your feed back.

I do not know if that is the power loss problem. However, I know it is not a good to drive with bad O2 sensors. It can do other damage. Sorry I am not much help.

I recommend you get factory fitted O2 sensors installed, reset the ECU again, and go from there. Don't install the universals. Send a PM to SVXStyle, he can tell you, and supply you with the right sensors at a reasonable $.

Why exactly are the non-factory ones bad?

I realize that they probably won't last as long, but they should function the same. It's not like they are factory wide bands (or are they?).

I don't think that the non factory ones are bad, but stay away from the universal type, where the wires need to be cut and then attached to out wires. I unfortunately had a set of universals installed, my Tech ran the diags and they failed, so he pulled them and thru in some better name brand units, that cost the same as the factory, or fitted branded named units. There are what some would say bargain brands, and those that are not such a bargain. The ECU can test them for you after they are installed, but perhaps my recommendation is to just get good quality units, and don't screw arround.

That makes much more sense. I thought that you were talking about Bosch replacements (w/ correct connector) from somewhere like Autozone.
