Has ANYONE committed to registering for a hotel room yet? http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/atta...1&d=1545623453 Unfortunately, questions like these have become a part of the Reading “tradition” . |
Re: Reading 19 ROOMS BOOKED THREAD
I booked my room. Not able to come on Friday unfortunately, but will be there Saturday and Sunday! I will be staying at the Holiday Inn so I'm close to the action.

Many members arrive starting on Friday afternoon and the number increases well into the evening. Some just leave after work on Friday and come up. Sunday there is not much going on. Early breakfasts and impromptu get togethers. Most leave after checkout. Some locals may stay a bit longer, but most leave in late morning to get back home to start work on Monday. So all you really need is a Saturday night... . |
Re: Reading 19 ROOMS BOOKED THREAD
I'll come up Saturday regardless as I am 35 miles away.

Re: Reading 19 ROOMS BOOKED THREAD
Would anyone be interested in doing a dyno run on our cars in Reading on Saturday the 16th? I've sent an e-mail to the owner of Ace Tuned in Reading to see if we can get in and if he would do any group discount for us.

Re: Reading 19 ROOMS BOOKED THREAD
Is Reading in Massachusetts? Sounds fun, is there any get togethers on the West coast?
|
Re: Reading 19 ROOMS BOOKED THREAD
Reading (Morgantown) is in central Pennsylvania.
2914 miles from you You can still make it. But check with our Executive Director here. Earl Steele “ensteele”, lives 45 minutes south of you in Burlington, WA. He owns 19 SVXs and can help with the local get togethers. . |

Earl,
Are you still doing your fish fry? Larry PS: Wanna sell me the neon sign? :D |
Re: Reading 19 ROOMS BOOKED THREAD
Haven't done the seafood meet for a number of years now. I may try to bring it back if there is interest.
The sign is alive and well. :p  |
Re: Reading 19 ROOMS BOOKED THREAD
Does anyone want to go to the BBQ PMP Auto is hosting that Saturday for a few hours? They are roughly 30 minutes away from the hotel. They are the largest used Subaru parts supplier on the east coast and it can't be a bad thing for our community to show up there IMO.

Re: Reading 19 ROOMS BOOKED THREAD
I tried and couldn’t figure out the format to post this info as I don’t see any others. Perhaps I’m the only person staying at the Holiday Inn?
I booked a two queen “executive” room - whatever that is for Friday and Saturday nights. I’m bringing along an employee of mine who is a Subaru nut. Confirmation number 47514492 I hope to see a good turnout! Last year’s reading was lovely. Mike |
Re: Reading 19 ROOMS BOOKED THREAD
Can someone verify the address for me and is there a group discount?

When do people usually show up on Friday? I’m working out of Philly that day and will be getting there about 6 ish.
I used to get there about noon on Friday and was the first one there. Others started arriving mid-afternoon. By dinner time things are starting to gel. When you get there you will see the cluster of SVXs together in the parking lot in front of the hotel registration entrance, usually to the right of the entrance or on the right side of the hotel. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/atta...1&d=1557977849 Cars start arriving on Friday afternoon and most people just hang in the lot getting acquainted and reacquainted. As the day progresses and more and more cars show up, there will be a discussion about dinner. Many just opt for a quick bite at local fast foods or something simple at the hotel restaurant. It quickly takes on a life of its own. Many stay outside (or in the bar area) initially and to very late in the evening. Usually in the parking lot if it is warm. Some go to bed early after a long day of driving. By Saturday morning, it is like Christmas. How many cars have shown up overnight. The day starts slow with early risers. Breakfast at the hotel to start the day and maybe a quick run to the self service car wash. The classic Auto Mall, attached to the hotel, is a definite must see. Open from 9:00am-2:00pm Saturday. https://www.classicautomall.com/ 379 classics for sale. This meet is unstructured. Used to have scenic drives, scavenger hunts, raffles, tech sessions, etc. The way it is now is reminiscent of the early Reading meets, more about the people than the events. Except for one completely rained-out Reading weekend, there has never been a bad Reading. No matter how many people have attended, no two Readings have been alike. We have had as many as many as 77 at Reading 9 and as few as 18 at Reading 15. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/atta...1&d=1557977929 |

Tony, There is NO room discount as in years past. Every year I used to negotiate a block of rooms early and get a great discount. But the internet and hotel booking websites like Hotels.com and Trivago, etc. have made this more difficult. Individual bookings probably use AARP, AAA and airline miles to probably work in your favor. The main advantages of the block of reserved rooms was you could cancel up to 6:00PM on the day of arrival without penalty. Also your CC was never ever charged a penny until after you checked out. No pre-payments or holds against the card. . |
