Sub setups and trunk styling

I am trying to brainstorm how I'd like to do my trunk with the subs, if you have subs in your trunk or have done any sort of styling with the trunk please post your pics.

I'd like to do something really clean looking maybe covering the box with vinyl or some sort of smooth looking material and doing some sort of clean SVX logo embossed or alcyone symbol. If you have ideas post them or if you've done anything pictures would be cool!

no ricey over done stuff just clean set ups please!

Re: Sub setups and trunk styling

Why not put your subs & amp in making sure they are no deeper than the back of your wheel tubs. Then make a lightweight panel to cover them, installing factory looking vents for air circulation. Cover it all with a matching fabric to what's there already. Viola stealth sub setup. Mod all you like, but make it look like it COULD have come from the factory that way.

Re: Sub setups and trunk styling

I didn't want to not have a spare tire so I decided to make mine in the corner of the trunk using this tutorial:

http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...TID~74519~PN~1

I won't be making it all shiny or anything I'll just be covering mine with some sort of material. I also used foil tape rather than masking tape. This is the only picture I have but I'm done the process of shaping and now it's out of my car.

Saves a lot of room.

I don't want mine to be crazy chromed or ugly n overdone with 50 speakers and a tv that no one will ever watch (aka pimp my ride style)

This is how I did mine origionall. Since these pictures I've improved it. I did it prety cheap too. Used some spare plywood and got some felt spray glue from the fabric store. I cut up a card board box to make templates.

I like that mike, that looks really clean, I like it a lot better than the enclosures dayle sells, no offence to him, it's a good idea, just not my style.

I almost would rather do two separate subs like this and form fit them to the corners to save taking up all sorts of space and also to have a cleaner look.

Anyone put dynamat to do some sound dampening??? If so where did you put it, and was it affective?? I don't want a dreaded trunk rattle...... I think that's the tackiest thing in the world.

I want a really clean look and sound. I don't know how I want to do it. These are great ideas Thanks! keep um comin!

yourconfused, I'm confused... lol can't wait to see more progress and see what you're going to be doing with what you're making!

I actually had 2 bass tubes in my trunk. I got tired of them taking up the entire truck so I disected them and used the parts to make mine. The vents were part of the tubes.

That's very clean I like it a lot, I also saw this one in a different thread that looked nice to me as well

My only question is, if I were to do this set up on my own making a custom box for each sub, about how much space do I need to give the sub inside the enclosure? also, if I were to port the box, what's the science on positioning the ports???

Re: Sub setups and trunk styling

It depends on what kind and brand of subs you use.
Some are pretty shallow for thinner enclosures.
I wouldnt port it either. Its not airtight.
Heres my sub box.

I finished over a year ago.
The last 2 pics were finished pics showing the 4 subs were hidden and took up no space. My sig has atleast 100 pics from the build that I was going to use for a how to, before i got too lazy.
btw i like the pics jonnybeas posted. Question though is where is the amp that powers the subs located?
