She weighs roughly 419lbs. wet, and is pushing roughly 146hp at the crank. 0-100mph in less then 6 seconds. I have it up to an indicated 142mph, and there was plenty left.

I guess if you can't afford a 1098 Ducati, this is the next best thing. :cool:

I never liked Ducati's. I would get a BMW HP2 Sport or new S1000RR over a 1098 ANY DAY, never mind the new Aprilia RSV4. Now this is a hot bike:

I like all the European sports bikes. They all have the engine output centered around useful torque, not like the Japs that center it solely on peak HP.
It makes the bike more ridable, they can pull a higher gear through the corner, instead for shuffling through a few gears to try to keep the power flowing.

The Ducati has proven to be the top of the Super Bikes for a few years, due manly to the Desmodromic valve gear.

A good buddy of mine races a Suzuki GSX-R1000 and taught me a lot about the differences in riding a I-4 versus a V-Twin. He's used to the I-4 for racing, but said he would take my V-Twin for day to day riding in a heartbeat. I'd like to spend some more time on a Triumph. I rode a Speed Triple but didn't like it much. A Sprint ST would be my first choice, and if they ever put the 1050cc Triple in a sportbike like a Daytona. The 955i was a nice bike, but the current 675 is lighter and faster.

I would agree with your friend Tiger. V twins give better low end response on the road. Almost like comparing a V8 to a straight 6 or 4.

But I like Ducatis, although I have not yet bought one. I'm fond of V4s and straight 4s, still.

There's a 95 Daytona forsale on Lanc Craigslist for a very reasonable $1500. If the wife didn't just fork over way too much for a plasma tv it would have already been in the garage.

Im not riding a sport bike per say, more of a roadster.

The Shiver was heavier then I thought it would be. See the new 850 Mana? Has a full auto CVT or paddle shift. Not for real bikers, but an awesome way to get women and other non-riders into the mix.

very nice bike!

my dad had a black Triumph Daytona, and it was a monster. it had more horsepower (140hp) than my beater car at the time (Chevy Lumina, 3.1L V6, 135hp). :lol:

Only thing good I can say for it is that at least the scoop is functional this time. Otherwise its a 1/8 ton overweight. I wasn't too crazy about the styling of it when I saw it at the local dealer either. Thought the older one looked better (though still not a beauty queen). I'll stick with my CB175 for daily jaunts and my winter CB650sc for my ski commutes at least until prices drop for the Kawasaki Verysis or Honda realizes that their US line up is simply sad.

Well as a long time VFR owner I like V4s, so I likes it! :p

They kept the muscle bike design which is good. It was always overweight, in fact, I noticed David's bike does not have the solid disk wheels. ;)

In this style of bike though the current Suzuki B-king has got to be king of the heap. All that power, and it still handles.

I'm looking very hard at a Kawasaki Versys myself. The Blackbird is great for long distance touring, but the Versys has a brilliant mix of light weight, good handling and easy maneuverability in traffic. An exceptionally good bike.

I only wish it had an aircooled inline 4. I value power but also like something that I can easily work on without removing every bracket to get at something. Besides, I need the price to drop before I buy.

It's the angle. The bluing wore off and it's actually gold in most pics.
