I received an email reply from Japan Direct Import Service. They will sell me the Alcyone S40 taillight panel for $325.00 delivered by express mail.

They also supplied me with a photo of a rather unique spoiler that may be available as well. Check it out in my briefcase at http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/svxcess?e...l=us%26.src=ph

Whats your opinion, guys

ok but....

Why? I'm all for new things but whats the point of that? does the middle of the car need no down force?

?

Spoiler

It's interesting, all right, just not quite my bag. I'm absolutely in love with the stock spoiler - not too high, not too low.
But I know some members who really want their car to look different would probably go for it.

i think it looks pretty cool, but would definitely want to see it at all angles.

Prototype spoiler

1 Attachment(s)
I think it is a little odd looking. What I would be interested in is the spoiler and the trunk lid together as one piece, just like on the SVX prototype. Find one of them and then I would think about loosing the stock one.

Couldn't find a 'thumbs sideways' icon

I agree with nubs that it's a little odd-looking, but then that's sort of what separates the SVX from the boys (or something like that). Still, I don't see the point. It sort of looks like a tow bar. Sort of. But not really. I don't know. I really like it. I think I'll get one. Or not. I can't decide whether I really like it, and it can't decide whether it wants to be a spoiler or not.

Good to see a man who's sure of himself . . . I think.

Spoiler/Boxer cover

According to this morning's email from Japan the spoiler is available for 65000JPY ($541.50) plus shipping. I dont know if it is painted or not.

He also says the throttle body engine cover is available with the "BOXER" wording. The price on this is 9200JPY ($76.63) The picture of this cover in the Road and Track guide looks to be a different shape than the ones we currently have. I'll keep getting more information.

Agree with nubs. The stock or prototype spoilers are really the only two I have ever seen on the car (either in photos or for real) that 'fit'. Probably because they were designed for the car by the manufacturer. In all fairness to Giugiaro, he HATED the spoiler. Said it ruined the lines of the car. When FHI decided to put it on the car he was very upset. Believe it or not the body design is almost exactly what he envisioned, except for the spoiler.

IMO, the prototype spoiler was a bit bulky and slightly clunky. The production spoiler, I think, blends better with the lines of the car -- more or less "levitates" over the rear deck (perhaps it was the "Prototype" spoiler that had Giugiaro up in arms and the production spoiler was a compromise -- it was listed as an "Option" on first run). Frankly, if the car I saw on that lot, one fateful day in August of '99, was "bobtailed," I wouldn't have given it a second look. Of course, dif'rent strokes . . . and shooby dooby dooby.

BOXER cover

There was a post on Yahoo suggesting that the BOXER throttle body cover may not fit, since it was originally a prototype - not production.
I'm thinking that if Japaneseparts.com show it as available with an actual part # and price, it would have to fit.
Possibly he had an ACTUAL prototype cover (with a different configuration) and these numbered parts are production pieces for Japan SVX models - which would fit ours.

On second thought . . .

I think I'd like to have that unusual spoiler just for it's uniqueness. As it is, with a green SVX, folks just think they're looking at a two-door Intrepid. That spoiler looks Lambourgini-ish, in a way. Did you say it was available? And for how much?

Japanese parts ordered

I sent my international money order to Japan this morning. I ordered the Center tail light panel for the S40 SVX. I las black lettering in the center which says ALCYONE SVX. I also ordered the BOXER throttle body cover. The total cost of these 2 parts, including their 11% commission, insurance and air express shipping, was $402.00

I will let everyone know when they arrive and will post part numbers. I'm checking to see what else they have for the SVX as well. I know that their commission decreases on larger orders.

TWO-DOOR INTREPID???

<<As it is, with a green SVX, folks just think they're looking at a two-door Intrepid. >>

SMILE WHEN YOU SAY THAT, PARDNER!

INTREPID!!!!???

Cleo's green.

As a member in good standing of the Association for the Prevention of Slurs Against Green SVXs by Comparing Them To Intrepids (AFTPOSAGSBCTTI), I must agree with my fellow member, svxxx26. Smile BIG when you say that, sir :D

(It's all right, Cleo, you don't really look like an Intrepid)
