Introducing myself

Hey all, just introducing myself. I realize this sub-forum is pretty dead but I am in the area and want to connect with people willing to help a young SVX owner in his restoration project.

I got a 1993 LSi on craigslist for $600, 180k miles with 'clean' rear quarter damage (dented in and surface rusted but no underlying frame damage or rust, just needs a replacement panel easier said than done), roof leaking and oil leaks galore. There's also the usual transmission slippage but it runs about just fine and the engine seems to purr happily for such high mileage.

I don't aim to drive it daily or anything like that this is gonna be my baby and I'm trying to do most of the work myself. I'm in the North Shore area so if anyone wants to meet up and talk/work SVXes then let me know!

Welcome spacepig.
Oil leaks are common, mine all leak from the valve covers.
As for the tranny, get yourself a 4.44 Subie tranny from an Outback/Legacy/Forester and swap the gears in the diff. Or if you're adventurous do a manual swap.
The roof leak may be just the sunroof drains being plugged.

Welcome.

I would suggest downloading the factory manuals if you can find them. They are really useful. If you want to find a decent online part lookup catalog then check out http://opposedforces.com/parts/svx

For the complete factory service manuals in .pdf form, see this post

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...21&postcount=4

I have them all downloaded on my computer and many that I use regularly (troubleshooting, wiring diagrams) onto my ipad air. It is so nice to be able to carry manuals around in a convenient package less than 1/2" thick.

Also being able to email any particular page or manual on the spot.never get damaged or dirty.

Welcome to our SVX family, space-pig. Ifyou have a hard time getting the panels here try the "dark side" (Yahoo SVX group). There are some really good SVXers over on that site. :)

Thanks guys! Wasn't expecting such a large response in this quiet corner of the forum! Glad to see the community is still kicking since I'll need quite a bit of backup at times haha! This is my first time seriously working on a car and oh boy did I choose a tough one

Depending where on the north shore you are, you are not too far from me. I have a ton of spare parts you can help yourself too if you need anything.

Holden's a bit far from Witch City haha but I may make it out there eventually! All I need (for now) is a left rear quarter panel and a transmission, which I wouldn't expect you to just have lying around lol but I'll keep you in mind!
