Recommended CD/DVD/AV/SD/MP3/USB player on the cheap.
 

Went to walmart with 200 bucks today, came home with this.

Clumsy UI at first, but has a video input, and reads every format imaginable, stereo/CD player also sound much better than stock.

edit: This is used in a small project I have underway, I post to the whole town on myspace, and we set up a guerrilla drive up theater using my projector to turn any warehouse wall into a night at the movies.

Can you close the console door?

Yep, I wouldn't recommend it if it had not fit correctly.

After using a bit, I do have one complaint so far, the unit is noisy when reading from usb (as in white noise)

We'll see if that goes away when the whole system is powered by seperate component amps.

I was shopping around yesterday and came accross this one:

According to the site it'll fit in the SVX, but I haven't bought it yet. I've got more expensive issues to tend to with my SVX first before I start doing cosmetic improvements. I do like this one though, since it's silver/red color, and I drive a Red '96. Color coordination ftw :D

There was another thread for LCD screen 2 DIN units on here too, ridered777 has a pretty sweet one.

He got his as a display model, so there's not much info on model or part number, but it's a Jensen 7" LCD 2 DIN. Jensen's newer units are probably a bit better than his. He mentioned it didn't have a USB hookup, but the new one does apparently.

So Patrick, does that actually play DVD's on the little screen in dash? And has a video output I assume if you are using a projector with it.

Looks pretty cool, but I'll stick with my Eclipse headunit :D... That said, I really wished it had USB and MP3 capability :(... This thing is 6 years old and cost $899 back then though!!! Luckly I got it off Jason Porter when he sold his SVX for $150 shipped! :D:D
