went to the track

went to the track today and ran the car twice.
first run 16.6
second run 17.4
still getting used to the car on how it runs
it kept bogging down at the starting line

car is completly stock

What were the temps like during your runs? Did you allow your car to cool down before racing? Also, did you remove any unnecessary weight from the car - spare tire, tools, speakers, etc.?

Svxfiles and I wrote the following article on www.svx-iw.com - it's a good read and gives lots of great advice for running the lowest times possible at the dragstrip.

16.6 is a good start. What was your trap speed? Don't forget to post on the scoobymile.com - we need more SVX's on there! :)

let the car cool when i got there for about 30 min and then abouy an hour for the second run.

don't know what is in the trunk gotto take it to the dealer to get key made. just don't have time.

i will get the rest of the numbers in the mourning because there in my car.

this is also my first ever time to a dragstrip.

brake torque (depending on your tranny situation)
leave the gear selector in 1 the car will shift at redline the whole way up
unplug pressure resistor
keep it floored and go straight

I don't think letting the engine cool, [low rpm] pre-torquing, or gear selecting makes any difference what so ever.
Doing all those things resulted in my slowest runs.

Generally my car seems to run faster when it relaxes for a day or two. The harder I drive it the slower it seems to get, over time.

Then again, some days it seems to be lazy, and giving it a good throttling seems to wake it up.
