Picking Up the SVXcess Pearlie Feb 6th.

Hello All, the day I have been waiting for is fast approaching. To pick up my new 92 Pearl SVX
I will be flying into Washington Nation Airport on Feb 5th, and staying with my Uncle in Arlington, VA. On Thursday Feb 6th I will be meeting with John(SVXcess) and he will share with me the secrets to his 92 Pearlie, at which point he will say good-bye. I will give John some time alone with her, before I drive her away.

I hope to meet as many of you as possible on my trip back to the West Coast.

Here is my current itinerary:

Wednesday Feb 5th: Arrive in Washington DC.
Thursday Feb 6th: Pick up Pearlie and spend the day with John
Friday Feb 7th: See the sites in the DC area, pick up some supplies, visit who I can.
Saturday Feb 8th: Leave for and hopefully arrive in Chicago, Il.
Feb 9th - 11th: Stay with my Brother in Elmhust Il, Visit as many of you as possible
Wednesday Feb 12th: Leave Chicago area towards Grande Junction, CO on I-80
Wednesday Feb 12th: Stop somewhere in the middle, suggestions??:D
Thursday Feb 13th: Arrive in Grande Junction. Stay the night.
Friday Feb 14th: See as many of you as I can. Then leave for Boise, stay the night.
Saturday Feb 15th: Home stretch. Travel to Seattle area, meet as many of you as possible. Drive through the Border, and go to bed.

I have put my detailed route maps in my locker under Road Trip

I am using Delorme Street Atlas USA 9.0 to plan, map, and with my GPS and Laptop, track my trip.

I'm curious as to what I can expect for fuel economy, John mentioned 30mpg, that latest poll suggested 25. And what is the capacity of the tank?
Street Atlas thinks it can plan my fuel stops:rolleyes:

Hey, call me and I'll be there. I'll even try to bring more than one SVX if I can.

mileage..

On my road trip to Indiana for the 10th meet, the best I got was 28.26 mpg....This was speeding across Nebraska, with the AC on.

Average 24 to 26, depending on terrain.

Re: mileage..

My best overall mileage was on the trip to Lafayette in July. I got 29.8mpg on the trip out, travelling in a caravan about 80mph.

On long trips I usually get about 26mpg. Around here, my average country/city mileage runs about 23 using the oxygenated gasoline, which gives me less mileage.

Route Change

There is no place prettier than I-70 west of Denver... But in February you might need to take the northern route through Cheyene WY. I think those roads are open quite a bit more than 70 is.

I lived in Boise for 5 years. for fun we'd do Denver for a weekend. The Green River valley is the prettiest place on the planet.

Darn it! The closest you're coming to me is Chi-town. I'm six hours from there. PLUS, I've already got plans for Sunday the 9th (the only day I'd be able to even TRY to make it up). :( Maybe we can meet at Reading IV. :D

Meanwhile, I hope your GPS works in the SVX. I've had a bit of difficulty in mine. Works great in my wife's van. I'm using the Radio Shack DigiTraveler for laptop with the Delorme Street Atlas 2003. I love that little sucker. :D But, again, haven't been able to get it to work on the front dashboard. Perhaps I'll try to find a way to rig it on the rear deck.

Godspeed for a safe trip.

I had problems with my GPS as well until I got an exterior antenna. It is magnetic and will stick to the roof. I had more signal strength than I could believe when I plugged it in. It was worth the $25.00 that I paid for it. :)
