The resons you could go wrong:
1) transmission might be on its way out
2) The paint is crap
3) The interior is faded (purple dash suade)
4) the sunroof may not work
5) the leather is cracking
6) Bumpers (front and rear) missing paint

Apart from 1 and 4, the rest are for sure with that car, i went with my dad to check it out i was goin to talk him into it till we got the and saw it looked like ****

Low km's though, thats always a plus

dynomatt 07-03-2006 07:02 PM

The km's are actually 180k.

But otherwise, I reckon you could get it for cheap.

They said they'd let it go for $8k.

Gee, where does the time go?! :o
Some time back I posted about meeting an elderly Asian fellow with what I thought appeared to be a mint condition '92 in silver with about 179k on it.
I gave him one of our cards, saying I may be interested if he ever wanted to sell.
It was registered
AKF-74W.
The other day I drove past his place just in time to see him pull into his drive in a silver Honda 4WD.
I stopped to say hello and ask about the SVX to which he mourned that he had sold it. :(
He remembered me and said he tried to contact me, as well as advertising the car, all to no avail, so not wanting to have it parked on his lawn, he took it to a car-yard and reluctantly accepted $5,000 for it!!!
I'm sure this is not the same car being mentioned above, it looked too good?
He took it to a yard on Parramatta road called 'Blues Brothers Auto's.
If it's still there, don't let them get away with trying to sell it for some huge mark up!!

I'd say it's gone...they were asking $8k...if they paid $5k, that sounds about right!

The white one for $12,990 at the moment, they paid $8k.

Pauls old one was going for $18,990 (when he paid $7k)...but it was then ebay'd and has gone.

Well, if that was the one (AKF-74W), then I'm suprised it was reported to be in the condition stated.
Still, it would have been in better mechanical condition than mine.:(
Need to pull my alternator apart and replace a whining bearing, then I could fix the power steer leaks, the fuel guage, the water pump leak, the exhaust rattle, the loose centre console, the floppy sunvisor, all those missing wnidow buttons, all the gas struts, the door lining and god knows what else...
Arthur.

dynomatt 08-27-2006 01:18 AM

Condition stated??? I don't think anybody even looked at it? All I know is that the ad said it had 80k km, but it actually had 180km when I spoke to the guy.

pylon500 08-31-2006 02:02 AM

Spotted a Pearl '92 for sale in a yard on Millperra Rd today.
Had Gold on Black plates;
GB 68 AJ with 89k's on the clock.
Has Custom mags and used to have something screwed onto the centre console.
pretty rough all round, has backed into something and cracked a lot of paint on the rear bumper, has dings around the undersides, I think the antennae is broken?,and large crackes in the drivers seat.
The guy in the yard recons he wants $10k for it!!
'Tell him he's dreamin son!'
Arthur.

If I remember correctly, that went through Fowles Auctions about 3 months ago. Had a reserve of about $8k...silliness.

I'm watching the white one on Ebay...wouldn't mind another one as a road car...I got quite attached to mine.

OK, the pearl with black top and wing, Gold on Black plates; GB 68 AJ advertised in the latest Trading Post is now at Advanced Motor Market;
325 Hume Highway Cabramatta.
Has a tag of $9980 on the window, advertised in Trading Post for $8995.
Odometer does show around 89k
Bit knocked about, maybe worth around $5k?
Arthur.

dynomatt 03-01-2007 03:22 PM

Arthur,

I spoke to the dealer about this yesterday...he said he'd accept $6500 for it. I offered $5k, he politely declined.

Haven't had a personal look at it though...you sure about the km's? He thought it was about 150k?

Matt

pylon500 03-04-2007 06:22 AM

I was actually thinking of getting $5K in notes and waving it under his nose ;)
It would be suprising for a car in that condition to only have 89k on the clock, maybe the odometer doesn't work?
Arthur.
