I had a conversation with Tim Duff at Earl Duff Subaru today. As those of you who have been following the Springtime in the Smokies meet thread know, Earl Duff is the official sponsor of the April 20 - 22 meet in the Knoxville, TN area. For those attending the meet, Tim has offered a deal that should blow the socks off those of you who have been drooling over WRXs. If anyone who attends the meet signs an order for a WRX during the meet, he will offer you a $1k discount off MSRP. Yes, boys and girls, $1K OFF the official Subaru sticker price. This is subject to the following conditions and limitations.

1. You have to be attending the meet.
2. You will have to sign an order at that time.
3. Availability is subject to SOA's allocation policies. Tim doesn't think there should be any difficulty with getting cars, but can't make a 100% gaurantee what SOA might or might not do about providing the cars.

And for anyone interested, I know someone (ahem, er, cough, cough) who would be willing, for a small fee plus expenses, to deliver said car to you anywhere in continental North America. He would even go to the trouble of arranging insurance, etc.

Currently, Tim's next allocation of showroom WRXs is for another one (1!) in May. He currently has one on the floor. If it hasn't sold by April 21, you'll be able to see it then. Chances are it'll go before then, though.

Interesting WRX tidbit: For the first three months of the introduction (Feb - April) Subaru is offering a limited edition WRX, which will be available only during that time. What makes it special is that it is available in (hang on, Randy) YELLOW!! Just thought you would like to know. :)

There's still time to sign up for the meet. :D

There was some guy on eBay auctioning off his slot to buy a WRX. I never did keep track of it to see how much he sold it for.

Yellow WRX....

Not my first choice on color but it would be better than a yellow SVX.......

PAUL!

joeaux 03-22-2001 06:19 PM

Truth is I can't afford WRX right now. I think this is kinda like the PS2 thing. They'll get more than they are worth for a while. In a year or so you'll be able to order one the way you want it for the regular going price.

Yep, remember how it was when the Miata came out? Dealers charging premiums, people getting HUGE prices for them - now it's just a car.
