engine weigh, anyone????
 
Does anyone know what a full svx engine weighs without the extras (a/c compressor, p/s pump, alternator,ect)??????:confused:

My best guess is about 500 lbs.
If you are shipping it, they will weigh it for for you.

500 lbs? That's what's making the car so heavy right there. Just take that pointless thing out and your weight issues are solved!

No. It's only a part of the problem.
As Jerry pointed out in another thread, he was trying to work on the chassis of the SVX and he admitted how tough it was. Why tough? because its metal sheets are thicker than other japanese cars (i.e Honda) and in some areas it uses more than two layers, not to mention the thickness of the chassis metal itself.
The same thing above was also pointed by my bodyshop guy.

Speaking as a Canadian (we know about rust), that heavy duty metal underneath is whats keeping these cars on the road today, its doesn't rust away. I'm surprised at how clean mine is underneath for a 19 year old car that was winter driven for about half its life

That sounds closer to right, I picked one up a few inches to get into my truck from an engine stand by myself for Budfreak. 500lbs is a little too high. 350-400 would be closer to my limits.
