Fresh SVX motor?

I am hoping someone can give me a clue as to why an SVX with well under 180 thousand miles would need a fresh motor from Subaru? I had a blown connecting rod BUT it had 202000 miles before that happened. Any ideas:confused:

Larry, there could be any number of causes. Aside from the engine just giving up (unlikely), over 180,000 miles a driver or mechanic could do plenty of things that would cause damage to the engine.

Could you possibly be more specific? Has the engine been replaced, or is a dealer telling you it needs to be replaced? Have they told you why? Is this your car? A friend's? One you're looking to buy?

I am looking at a car that has a replaced motor from Subaru. I haven't seen the reciepts yet. I am looking at the car maybe tomorrow if the weather isn't still awful(its snowing). I will have more info then.
