a smell...
 

...radiating from underneath my hood. it's a metallic-ish, foul-ish, burned kinda smell. only after i've been driving my car...now, my rack and pinion is leaking ever so slightly, and it looks like there's a bunch of spilled fuild around the power steering fill up that dribbled down into the serpentine belt area/front engine. i'm getting my rack and pinion replaced in about two weeks (i love this extended warranty deal!)...but i was just wondering if this burning smell could be from the leaking fluid, that's all. thanks!

a powersteering fluid leak, oil leak, and tranny fluid leak and they all have that smell. sounds like you just got some of that fluid burning.
