i'm glad you started this thread michelle! i am a reality tv show junkie. i've even seen two reality tv stars in person. i was in las vegas last new year's and i saw johnny fairplay from survivor: pearl islands walking down the strip. then last week, i was in the aspen grove apple store getting my iPod repaired and the customer right behind me in line was randi coy of my big fat obnoxious fiance fame. i hear she works at the barnes & noble here in littleton! :cool:

The only 'reality' show I watch is 'Airline.' And even then I may catch it once every six weeks or something. There are few shows I watch on a schedule. 24 is practically the only one.

I enjoy that, too, and see it just about as often. Also on A&E: Family Plots, which I like even more. The awkward "reality" tag fits this sort of day-in-the-life show much more than The Apprentice, My Big Fat (whatever), and the like. (Well, I'll confess: My opinion of the others is based solely on the commercials.)

I enjoy MTV's Real World. But, there's nothing real about getting this huge house with all sorts of luxury items (minus tele) for free. Well, basically the show is just created so tension and fights simmer until boiling point. It is fun to watch the drama though.

Ive noticed something about the real world. There is always 5 or 6 white people.....at least 1 black person....and theres always a gay guy or woman. There hasnt been a real world with out that format yet.

Exactly. And with the gay guy goes a homophobe. And with the black guy will go a person who is racist or has never even seen or met a black person. From there, you get conflict and the ratings go up.

I was watching the VH1 special on reality shows...

They are all scripted to some degree and after watching the VH1 show... I don't think I can watch any of them again...
