Sunroof wont open

The sunroof on my 94 ls will not open. When I hit the button I can hear the motor but nothing happens. Is it driven with a belt, chain, gears or what? I Have yet to take off the headliner to check it out. Just wanted to see if anyone here knows anything about this matter.

Thanks

If you "pop" the sunroof up yourself, does it open on its own? It may just need a bit of lubrication.

Nope, nothing

Try pushing the button and after about 3 sec., push up on the sunroof where it normally opens. Then try pushing the button again and see what happens. If nothing happens, you may need to tighten the clutch. :)

What is the clutch you are referring to? Is this a sarcastic remark?
I have cleaned the ways and lubed all that I can see to lube, but to no avail. The helping hand works for me, but is a little embarrassing to do when others are around.

No, thats totally serious. If you pop off the little circle piece of plastic on the headliner, you'll see a nut with a washer (the washer will be bent to hold onto the nut), unbend the washer and tighten that nut, and then bend the washer back against it.
