Straightening an svx

Hi all, i just bought a 95 svx with some minor front end damage. It is damaged in the lower passenger side front. They must have hit a curb or something of that nature from the bottom. Anyway, the frame is pushed up about 2 inches. The damage is before the strut tower and none of the suspension is bent. Drives down the road straight.
What i would like to know is how hard will this be to fix? Would i be better off taking it to a frame shop and having it straightened on a rack or welding in a new section?
I originally bought the car for its engine and drivetrain for my legacy but i don't have the heart to part it out now!
Thanks
Brent

Welcome Brent.

Take it to a frame shop with the damaged parts still intact. If you strip the fender off, it will be harder to straighten.

The shops nowadays have nice laser guided tracking systems and spec books that show all the proper dimensions so getting it back in shape should be a breeze.

Its not a job for a first timer without an experienced frame guy working with you.

Frame shop

Definatley take it to a frame shop. That's if you want it done right. Have the sheetmeatal on the car so they can make sure that it is pulled correctly and everything fits right! Good luck to ya!

I took it to a shop and they think it's going to take removing the engine to get it right. Then again they were looking at the frame where it widens (from the factory) and thought that was out of wack.
I'll take it to another couple of shops before i make my final decision.

Welcome to the club, Brent! Congrats on your purchase. Once it's done you will love it more than the Legacy you bought it as a parts car for. Good luck with the repairs. Keep us up to date on your progress. ;)

I like the car, but i have a twin turbo Z for the summer. Having two cars that are a lot alike just doesn't cut it. If i do fix it i will at least drive it for a couple of months before i sell it. Hell, maybe i'll even do a 5mt conversion with the parts i have laying around!

Brent,
Drive the SVX a little more. The Z and the SVX aren't nearly as similar as you might think. The SVX (IMHO) is the ultimate road car. Make one long trip in the Subie, and you'll be hooked for life.
