HIDs for SVX!
I just installed a LavaLux HID low beam headlight conversion in my Claret last night, and WOW!!!
I can SEE!:D It took about a half hour to install, no cutting, no splicing, they just plugged right in! Low beam had a VERY white light, like daylight. I got the 5000K light color, so its not blue or purple at all! Besides being whiter than the stock or 9005s, they throw more light out to the sides. Three times as bright as a 9005, and 5 times as bright as a stock 9006. Around here that helps to spot deer when you are moving down a windey country road. It works well with the fog lights, as they fill in close to the car. And with the high beams on you can really see the differance between the white light of the lows, contrasted with the yellow of the stock 9005 highs. BTW, NO ONE I passed flashed their hi beams at me!:) I got them from one of my best friends. (In fact I named my son David is after him.) His company buys directly from the manufacturer and he will let me sell some. These are the same ones that sell for $350.00 installed in PGH. I can sell them for $199.00 installed here, or $199.00 plus actual shipping. More later. Ever think about doing the HIDs in the high beam too? That should be pretty bright.
|
Where did you end up mounting the ballasts?
HIDs into a reflector is RICE. Thus I think it would be better to replace the High Beams and Fog lights with brighter/better regular bulbs. It is really awesome that our SVXs have projectors, thus the HIDs really work GREAT and look GREAT. |
Very nice, i may look into that in the future. I'm more or less legally blind at night, 10x worse if it's wet out, so i don't drive at night. Plus the headlights being pretty dim in my cars doesn't help much. I'll have to check it out next weekend!

Im interested. My beams just arent to brite at nite but i still drive with one eyes closed.

Especially if your eyes are over 30.:o Thats why the 9005 conversion is so popular. I at 51, do not have a problem with our hi beams, and since both lows and highs are on with the hi beam, the lows help both.:) |
What the eff Tom I'm going to go broke with you coming out with all this cool stuff :D

(2)The low beams are projection lights, so there is no reflector. The thick glass lens helps aim the light. I also think that is why it did not bother other drivers.:) (3)No lights that I have tried on the highs and fogs have made much differance.:( (4)Yes, in 92 it was advanced as anything allowed in the USA. |

:o :) :p |
Whenever you start selling, let me know. I'm definitely down with that.
I wanted to do this, anyway... but your kit would be awesome (especially as it's "tried and tested"). Are you going to put together an installation sheet for the SVX with it, or will it be a "Start, and then call Tom with my cellphone earpiece in" sort of installation? :D |
