Hankook W404
I have Hankook W404 Winter radials and I am very happy with them. They are also studdable if you require extra traction. Even without the studs, they turn the SVX into a TANK. I drive in Michigan winters, they have helped me get through 14" of snow without a problem. This was on the road. In Flint, MI they do not plow.
https://www.tiresavings.com/tireShop...&sku=316104102 I have them in 205/55-16 for stock wheels. A bit of a squeeze in this size, but the narrower tire is better for snow. They decrease performance immensely due to the huge tread blocks and soft sidewall. Are a bit noisy too. Just keep in mind, they are snow tires! Looks like you can get them for about $85 a piece now. |
Can't say I've been to Duluth in the winter but I've had experience with 2 of the least expensive winter tires and they are still far superior to ANY all season tire. Personally I'd spend more on summer tires than winter tires.

Bridgestone Blizzak
If you can find a deal on this tire, you will be very happy with the performance.
Special compound & knerfed tread make this tire a true ice/snow winner!! :D 4 new tires, $600, used $??? |
