Airbag module replacement after deployment
Does the airbag module have to be replaced if the airbag has deployed? I've searched and read everthing about it and still do not feel certain.

Re: Airbag module replacement after deployment
The FSM says no, but check the sensors around where the car got hit to make sure that they are ok. Also disconnect the negative then postives terminals then wat for about 10 min before installing new airbags. Also do you have any codes?

Re: Airbag module replacement after deployment
I changed the module yesterday and the airbag light is still on. The module I installed was from a car that had deployed it's airbag. I'll recheck the codes tomorrow morning. They were code 21- airbag control unit faulty and code 12- roll connector circuit open, faulty CU, open circuit in main or module harness.

Try clearing them first then if they come back then replace the airbag control unit.

Re: Airbag module replacement after deployment
Air bag sensors MUST be replaced once they are tripped. Not so sure on the control module, that depends on whether or not there is a one-time-trip type sensor in the module itself, of which I am not certain on a Subaru.
