power antennas on ebay
 

Fellers,

Has anyone tried replacing their power antenna with ones I've seen on ebay for $24.95? My antenna stays up about 4". Or is there an easy maintenance i can do to get the antenna to close?

there's a procedure you can do to clean the "mast" and apparently it has fantastic results. i'm not sure where to point you, but you could start by looking in the how-to locker and searching for "antenna mast cleaning"

Run your mast up and down a few times with a rag that is dampened with WD-40. Works well to clean and lube the mast.

I wouldn't recommend one of those aftermarket units unless I was really that hard up to spend the few extra dollars for an OEM unit.

I bought the 24.95 antenna off ebay. I have not installed it yet but i did hook it up to a battery and it works great.. Very soooth and looks great.. It has a marking on it that says " radio shack " number 12-1330 A ... Like i said, it looks great... Jim
