New Owner

Much to my wife's dismay, I'm the proud new owner of a black '96 LSI (I won an eBay auction and then told her about it hehe). I read some good tips from this site (i.e. using Scratch-x on the headlights). The car is in very nice condition (69k miles), but I had a couple of questions:
The wholesaler I bought it from did not have any remote keypads for unlocking the car. I'm assuming the LSI came with that standard. Do you think I can order a keypad and it would work?

Also, the car has different tires on the front-end than on the rear. I am going to buy new tires (any suggestions for reasonable $$$?). Is it damaging for me to drive it this way for like a week?

Everything seems to work fine and everything is very quiet. The brakes make no noises. Any gotchas I should take a look at that might not be obvious driving it?

Oh yeah, did this car belong to anyone here by chance?

Crig,

You can get a new keypad from Subaru. They are not too expensive. As for the wheels, I'd always put all 4 at the same time. That's just me. I don't want to pay money to the tranny gods. The car does look good. You do know that your back wheel is on backwards... right? ;)

Good luck and congrets and welcome
Lwin

Congratulations, Craig and welcome to the network.

When I bought my SVX 2 years ago, I replaced all four with Yokohama AVS dB tires for $125 each. They're great so far. I didn't know about this site before so I couldn't ask anybody. I researched and found this other site: http://www.subarusvx.com/

I recommend Bridgestone RE910's (Less than $100 ea.) The originals are RE95's which are quiet and lasted 70k on mine. The 910's I now have look to have half their mileage left after 60K.

On a side note: Is there some kind of law that says, "No SVX's may be bought or sold on Ebay unless at least two wheels are on the wrong side."?

Ebay SVXs...

Actually, I think it is a law that all Ebay SVXs must have at least one set of wheels on backwards...I got mine from a dealer on Ebay this summer and the fronts where one backwards of course.
