1993 SVX
The 1993 was essentially unchanged from the '92. The 1993 SVX came in a 25th Anniversary Limited Edition. It was a Touring Package SVX in Barcelona Red with beige leather interior. Total 1993 production was 3,859. The 25th Anniversay model was supposedly 600 cars, although I have also heard 301. List price for the 25th Anniversary was $34,445. In 1993 the SVX came with a new power door lock switch located on the center console. Vehicle Identification numbers - 5th, 6th, and 7th numbers from the left indicate model: LS-L model (only one available) X35 or X36 (more information on this to follow). 10th number in 1993 is the letter "P" |
what else....
Where all the annys Awd or just fwd or either ?

The 25th Anniversary Editions were like the 92s, AWD. They did not make the FWD until 1994. Subaru of America confirmed that there were only 301 of them made, and they were all Barcelona Red with beige leather interior. Because the production was 3,859, not all of them were the Anniversary Editions. There were other colors made, but were not that model (3,558). Hope that helps. :)

I have yet to see a '93 that wasn't a Barcelona Red 25th Anniversary model, and I defy you to show me one. :D |
I agree with Nick. That number is likely sales numbes for fiscal year 93. This would include all of those leftover 92's that didnt sell. I've never seen a 93 that wasn't red either.

Me too.
But let's do a little calculation. Total imported - 14000 ish 92 - 5280 93 - 94 - 1666 95 - 1801 96 - 1111 97 - 0640 that brings 93s to : 3500(ish) So the total production number has to be 3,859 like I have seen everywhere else on the internet But I have yet to see a non red SVX (no. I did once on Ebay but thought that was a repaint). lwin |
Lwin. I believe those are sales numbers, not production numbers.
Mike |
If you look at the vins of the 92's, there were a lot more than 5280 made in that MY.
Mike |
Those are production number. VIN Number jump as well.

if they made over 3500 in 93 where are they all? There seem to be a lot more 92's and 94's and even more of all the other years than 93 registered on this site... check out the registry on .org... The numbers you provide dont work (if our group is an accurage sample)

Here's a question... has anyone here got a 93 with a vin number say higher than 01000
Mike |
There shouldn't be any higher than 00301. Mine's 254, I think.
Anyway, this one has been argued before, and I don't know why we're still at it. SOA told me that there were 301 '93 25th Anniversary SVXs built. I have never seen a '93 that was not Barcelona Red (unless it was repainted). As soon as somebody shows me a '93 that was originally any color besides Barcelona Red, then I'll consider the possibility that there were more than 301 '93s built. I also contend that if there were 3,500 '93s in Barcelona Red, but only 301 were 25th Anniversary cars, then Barcelona Red would account for a much higher percentage of our members' cars. |
I think I may agree with theory that only 301 1993 SVXes were built period.
So nearly half the 92 model year SVXes were sold in 1993 then? There were so many surplus 92 models by say, probably the middle of 1992 (when I'm assuming most manufacturers begin producing the next model year supply because they are on the lot by Oct usually), that they knew they would have enough to get through the entire 1993 year and be able to keep up with demand, only producing 301 new cars that year? In most cases, this wouldn't be very believeable. The 2nd year of production of a flagship car that the company is still very proud of and they only make 301 new ones. But this is the SVX and nothing ceases to amaze us. They probably produced twice as many in 92 as they ended up selling. Then used 93 to balance things back out, and from then on looks like they were pretty consistent with the sales numbers, down lower in the numbers. |
Well, mine is number 46....
