OT... YT... who? Exhaust confusion!

OT & YT.. what are their names on the forums?
I mean I know they are both named Tom... but I can't figure out who is who.

Who came up with the exhaust that consists of the 2 aero20's for the precats, the magnaflow main cat and the aero25 as the resonator behind the magnaflow?

OT = SVXFiles
YT = TomsSVX

Old Tom, Young Tom.

I think the exhaust you are describing was done by SVXFiles. TomsSVX has not been very active here since he sold his SVXs last year.

Two Aero 20s for the pre-cats, MagnaFlow two into one main cat, MAGNAFLOW resonator replacement.;)

Thanks, I had no idea you were so case sensitive. ;)

That would be svxfiles, who did the install on my 96, as well as newsvx's 1992 pearlie.

Use either the 94007 Magnaflow cat for the OBDI cars and the 94037 cats for the OBDII cars. The Aero20 resonators work perfectly as pre-cats the OBDI cars. We found that the OBDII cars were more sensitive, (CE light) so I changed over to Magnaflow pre-cats with no problems since.

John, please don't tell me you crawl under the car to polish that exhaust. :lol:

Getting too old for that. I just polish it whenever it is on the lift at OT's for service. :lol:

But I do use the creeper to keep the rear muffler looking good. The rear muffler and pipes were done by YT.

OT installed the AR20's, the Magnaflow cat, AR25 resonator and kept the stock muffler, The thing was so quiet at idle and under acceleration it was annoying. Totally quiet at idle and at 80mph, all I could hear was the engine, not the exhaust--truly a stealth system.

While doing the engine rebuild at AWD, YT changed the rear muffler to the Bullet muffler, it sounded more like this, a low smooth, deep rumble: quiet at idle and quite civilized. Listen to the SVX on the left.

Nice looking system! Do you notice any power/torque gain at lower/higher engine rpm?

This exhaust system performs exactly as Tom predicted. Better exhaust flow and velocity at higher speeds and much quieter as well. The faster I went, the quieter and more responsive it was. Tom still considers this setup the optimal exhaust system for the SVX (having gone through a dozen different configurations)

With the stock exhaust system, I could hear both the engine AND the exhaust at 80mph. Now I am only aware of the engine at that speed. It definitely has more pulling power at the higher speeds under load (such as climbing a steep hill while in Drive, without having to downshift).

It flows a lot better and is much less restrictive with the 2" headpipes

John, I want that exhaust on my ebony. If my funds were endless, Id have OT do it while hes doing my engine reseal.

Re: OT... YT... who? Exhaust confusion!

The "Bullet" muffler on the rear is no longer available, but there are other Camaro-type crossflow options out there.

The rear muffler was installed by YT at AWD, Inc.
