Hmmmmm

Had a little problem pop up today on my Ebony.
I couldnt unlock the drivers door!
It unlocked and opened fine earlier this morning, but around noon when I was going to take off for lunch, it was a no-go. I couldnt even unlock it from the inside (WTF?).
I took it home and swapped cars and havent had a chance to look at it yet.
What should I look for?
Fuse?
Foreign object jamming the works in the door? (How would I open the door to get the panel off to find out:o)
Or its just mad at me for not driving it more often?

I'm not sure what it is called, but the door lock solenoid contraption was the culprit on my car. I took it apart and didn't see what the deal was so I just deleted it instead of fixing it. The car has NO power locks now. I need a new thing, and would do that if I had the coins and knew what it is called. What I am talking about is a little box with gears in it that locks and unlocks the doors based on what I think it is being asked to do. Kinda like a tray on a pc rom, as it closes when you put pressure on it and opens when you push a button.

The problem is getting access to it. I cant even open the door, the lock is stuck and no matter how hard I try to pull the button up or turn the key, it does not unlock:confused:
Would a lubricant in the key hole help? (dont go there):p

The servo is stuck. You need to disconnect power to it. Either by pulling a fuse or disconnecting the battery. After it gets reconnected it should be fine again.

Can you go thru the trunk?

Haha...read my first post.
Or wait till morning, after you've had some sleep ;)

Dave, I will give that a try this weekend. Thanks for the tip.

Had the same thing about 3 months ago, the driver's dooor would not open. Using the remote or just the key i could see the passenger side opening and closing. My big problem was that the passenger side is parked right up and close to a chain link fence so i really couldn't get in on that side. Trunk opened but the rear seat was locked. Finally with my son pulling on the chain link fence we could get the passenger side door open enough for me to squeeze my butt in the car. Driver's side latch would not budge. turned the car on and then back off and the door worked fine. It hasn't happened again since. Now i leave the rear passenger side seat to where i can get in the car via the trunk if it happens again....

Well, I disconnected the battery and it unlocked for me. But it wont lock.
Looks like I need to pull the door panel off and check it out.
And I was going to put my Christmas tree up today:rolleyes:

I am glad to hear you got it open now. I would rather have the problem of not getting it to lock than not open the car. Let us know what you find out. :o
