Help me to decide on this?

Hi all,

here is the thing that i want all of you to help me decide.
I am goin to gradaute this quarter and then afterwards I am plannin to move to california where my sister stays. I am not able to figure out what to do with my baby. So, i decided to make a poll overhere so that you can can give your wise opinions on this. Really i hate to leave it. I am still having time to decide untill the end of May.

Current miles on the car - 76k+

Distance between my place and Calif - 2400 miles
Gas cost - 420$ (@200 miles per tank)

Please remember - I will never buy another company car other than Subaru and then Volvo

Thanks,
-Pavan.

at highway speeds you will get way more than 200mi per tank (between 400 and 600 by my rough estimates)
I would say definatly drive it! Its a good excuse to roadtrip and if you use the cruse control you dont have to worry too much about tickets!

/has made the mistake of not using cruse control on the open highway

thanks for your advice. I dont know how much we can get on highway as i never went on highway for more than 1/2 at a stretch.

If it is 400 miles, then yep its better to drive, but let us see wht all others will advice... :)

That is where the SVX shines! It loves those long trips and you will too after driving one that far. You will find out how wonderful this car really is. I have gone that for or more in only 48 hours or so and it was great. Of course if you had more time (I didn't) it would be better yet. I would not leave the car behind, that is for sure. :)

Hi Earl,

yep... i am also not able to leave it behind or sell it to someone.... But i am not able to decide.... let us see what our other friends will decide on this. I may get around $4500 for this if i sell. So, wht i am thinkin is, can't I get another SVX of 94-97 in california for tht price?

-Pavan

ensteele 04-12-2005 06:45 PM

I don't think you could ever get a good 96 or 97 for the same price as your 92. I could be wrong, but I don't think that is possible. The other thing to consider is that you know your car and if it is a good one, you could get a lemon if you change to another - especially if you don't pay more for a newer one. :)

I generally get 250 and now with 2 1 hour trips on my last tank I got just shy of 350 bumping me to almost 22 when I usually see about 18

Pavan,

As stated by others, the SVX gets great highway gas mileage. I bet you'll get about 400 miles to the tank. When you leave, make sure your tires are properly inflated, and when possible, try not to use the air conditioning or heat as those consume fuel as well. When the temperatures are nice, I like to run with the vent on low or medium as to get the fresh air yet not waste energy heating or cooling it. Anyway, best of luck. Keep the SVX!

The SVX gets awesome mileage on the highway. I drove 200 miles round trip on the highway and the needle barley moved.

i get around 16 mpg under normal cityish driving, but if i go on the highway i've gotten 24 mpg mixed highway and city. so if you are all highway i would think you could get high 20s and maybe low 30s

intellibomb 04-12-2005 08:55 PM

drive it.

seeing as i am looking for a nice SVX and i live in CA and i am having some seruious hitches in my getalong, that is there arent any. they are all east coast. KEEP IT!

thats my imo
