Some bodywork progress...
This weekend Eric and I had a chance to tear into my Claret which has been sitting, so that I could finally put it in for that long-planned and eagerly anticipated paint job. Another weekend and she'll be ready. Here are some photos of this weekends progress:
http://simplepic.net/thumbnails.php?album=36 (the reason certain plates and lights, etc are back on the car is due to the fac ti need to drive it to and from storage in order to work on it.) Pics in next post. |
Nice license-plate-bondo-tray:lol:
|
My connection is lagging very badly. More photos are being added to the album. Paint is slated to happen within two to three weeks time.
Edit. No pinkstuff on Claret :) Shes getting only the finest fillers/glazings for the best results. |
you do this job yourself?
|
Yes. Eric and I are completing the bodywork almost entirely by hand. The paint will be done by a reputable shop.
Nine more pictures placed in the folder. |
How the heck did you get the rear upper plastic pieces off without breaking the crap out of them. When I pulled mine off for paint they cracked at almost all the clip holding points.

Ahem..."we"??
Lol, "Eric, you just make sure everything is nice and smooth within 1/64th of an inch, Ill take car of the hard stuff like painting this tranny resitor" In all seriousness..Mike is in charge os the stuff I hate, like...removing rusty bolts from bumpers, ect. While Im doing prettymuch the rest. as we speak, thedrivers side of the car is getting a nice healthy coat of primer from the body shop..Which, I wish I had an air compressor, otherwise Id be doing this part myself. The passenger side has MUCH less filler work to be done, so hopefully this project rolls along at a decent pace now that the hardest part is done |
Team effort :-P . It is true though, if Eric hadn't convinced me to start randomly sanding the car in the first place, I probably would have been too afraid to conquer this project myself. Its shaping up quickly, and Im quite excited.

That's some REALLY good work going on there guys!!
I can't wait to see it finished. Are you going back Claret with it or, are you changing colors? |
The color will be Claret once again, but instead of the traditional two tone, Im going for an All-Claret with a tan interior, and several small visual improvements.
|
On another note.. THERE ARE SVX PARTS EVERYWHERE I TURN!
In my Legacy... On my desk at work... Stacked in my bedroom... In my moms garage... ...and a storage unit full as well! :-P |
I just ordered a few things from subaruparts.com . :D:D:D Im so excited.

This past weekends progress:
-Picked up car from Primer -Blocked left side and trunk and removed any hard edges -stripped hood to bare metal and filled three tiny imperfections -filled and smoothed imperfections on right quarter, door, fender and roof -dropped car off for primer The bodywork is almost complete! I will upload photos after I get my camera back from leaving it at my friends place. I just need to prep the remainder of the body cladding/garnish and it can go in for a spray within the next week! :D:D:D:D I'm very excited! |
This bodywork going from Wack....to Mack, courtesy of Mike and Eric.

You saw the work in progress this past weekend.
I cant wait to show the finished product :) After Eric blocked off the existing primer late Monday, it was glossy! :D Everything seems to be coming together! |
