Legacy GT EG33 Conversion?

Hey all... My friend jerry just registered on the board even though he just bought himself a 97 legacy gt sedan. He's sold on my SVX :).

We were both wondering, is it possible to drop in an EG33 3.3L into the Legacy since it uses the 4EAT? His car currently has the 2.5 liter h4, and it seems as if his engine bay has plenty of room to fit it. Has anyone done it before? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.:D

Hey Tim

One guy posted a while back that he was trying to put an EG33 inot an Outback. His name here was outback25ho. Do a search and see what you turn up. I know he found an engine and ECU and he has received it but he hasn't been around since.

I had run across an Aussie web site that had a Legacy ("Liberty" down under) with a EG3.3 shoehorned into it, it was a completed swap, so it has been done.;)

I've seen photos of the EG33 stuffed into a Legacy here in the US. That was some time ago, so finding the photos would be a real trick, I bet. :D

Again. Why put a motor with little to no aftermarket support in a car it didn't come in? An EJ20t will fit very nicely in a Legacy and can easily make more horsepower that the EG33. Don't get me wrong I like the EG33 and all it just dosn't belong in a Legacy.

Interesting picture it looks like there is more room in the back of the motor when it's in a Legacy. Also looks like radiator relocation is neccesary. You think an EG33 would fit in a Loyal? That would move my 30" tires.

without sounding like "I know everything on Subaru's in OZ" I've never even heard of that car...and turbocharged to boot! (top mounted intercooler). A photoshop jobbie???

The main board here that I frequent (www.performanceforums.com) has just about everyone you could think of thats into cars and modifications and no-one's ever mentioned it....are you sure its Australian???

It's not turbocharged...it's Supercharged, you can see the supercharger in the right(from sitting in it) front corner of the engine compartment.

That looks like one fun car and I'm sure there has been more than plenty of hours spent under that hood!!

more details would be nice so that we could do the supercharger to our cars.
