In car microphone placement

I just bought myself a new toy for the SVX and it comes with bluetooth for hands-free calling.

So now I'm wondering, where have you decided to put the microphone in your car?

It should be here tomorrow so I'll snap some pictures after I get it installed.

Thanks!

In my car it's on the visor

Mine sits on Top of the steering column cover. People I've talked to say it sounds good.

As 92 SVX said, I've placed my mic...well wedged...between the window sill garnish/plastic piece and the visor. I ran the wire behind the plastic piece that sits in the driver's side front corner, the piece is easily removed. It's just held in by metal clips. You'd never know it was there.

I tried out a few things and ended up going with this:

I think it worked out pretty good, no one noticed it until I asked them to find the microphone.

I snapped a few pictures while I was putting everything in the car.

Radio harness:

All finished up with the PAC TR7 wired in:

And on to the good stuff:

Edited: The iPod/iPhone cable is fine. I was dumb and had a Cydia tweak installed that wouldn't release control over to an accessory device :o

Thanks! It was a busy day getting everything mounted and all the wires ran.

And just in case if anyone was wondering, the sph-da02 and sph-da100 fit perfectly in the car (even with the huge amount of wires that end up behind the radio). Most of the Pioneer 6.1" displays should fit just as easily. The 7" displays might hit the door cover trim at the bottom because there are more buttons than on my unit so that bottom piece is bigger. Mine just barely scrapes as the door reaches the bottom of its travel, it could be fixed by shaving maybe 1mm off the plastic trim but I'm not worried about it.

Edit: I took a fine tooth file to the door trim and now it works perfectly.

I have mine clipped on the back of the visor. It works well there.

Look above and to the left of the lighter in the pic for the mike. Works best when engine speed is fairly constant. I haven't been on the other end, yet, to test it out that way but, for the driver, works pretty well. People on the other end have said it sounded weird like a speaker phone.
The receiver is Pioneer AVH 4400, somewhat similar to what you have. USB port on back, I ran an extension to hook up an 80 GB iPod all the way to the space below the back seat ashtray. I rarely take out the iPod and have 80 GB of music, podcasts, etc on shuffle.
It was a very tight fit, because of the wiring. Also ran rear backup cam wires.
