Free range extender for Keyfob!

Alright, if you have a keyfob for your door locks for your svx, you know that you have to be practically inside the car for it to work. Well, once i got to texas, i met with a friend for lunch, and i picked up a neat little trick from him. I saw him unlock his car from like 50ft away, and iw as like wow, that's super range. He said nah, there's a special way to do it you get better range. I tried it and sure enough, 50ft away, i unlocked my SVX.

Open your mouth about an inch. Put the keyfob under your chin against the skin, and press the button. Be facing your svx though... THis changes your broadcast to a narrow band instead of 360degrees, and works great. Try different levels of mouth openness to adjust range if you have issues.

Good luck in getting it to work. I'm sure some of you probably knew this, but for those who didn't, it's incredibly handy!

yep, done it a hundred times - and if you are too far for that to work, put it in your mouth. ;)

Affectionately referred to on the network as the "chin trick"

Am I the only one with a stock keyfob and security system that can open his car from 50 ft away without trickery? :D

But just before that happens you'll be able to unlock your car just by opening your mouth ... no remote required!!! :D

yea, that works. in my automotive tech class we found another cool trick if you leave your keyfob at home - this works on and off - and usually only with a cell phone that has an extendable antenna:

You can transmit the signal thru a cell phone from thousands of miles away to unlock the car by holding the fob up to the phone, while the other person holds their phone at the window. I didnt believe it until we tested it

I have discovered it also works at a 45 degree angle to the ground from far away even with a car parked in front of it.
