Found myself with TWO '95 SVXs in the driveway in less than 3 weeks...

Fellow SVXers,
my name is Walter and I've been visiting this Forum quite a lot in the past 3 weeks (mainly searching - I learned a lot). Let's make a long story short: my old Man sells his almost-new truck and tells me he wants to buy something different. He tells me to help him find a 'Subaru SVX' because that is a car he always liked ever since it came out in Europe (we recently moved to Miami from Rome). We do a search online, we find his car and in two days it's in our driveway.

#1: 1995 Dark Green SVX, 70K bone stock, immaculate (showroom) conditions inside-out

Now here's my story... I've owned a 1991 Talon TSi AWD every since I moved in the USA, and I've stupidly dumped several thousand of dollars under her hood over the years. The car looks very clean, nobody would suspect her nature except for her exhaust and front mount intercooler. ;)
The Talon has an appointment with an AWD dyno sometime in May, so I don't have real numbers but being in the DSM world for quite some time I know what to expect, so if everything proceeds as planned I hope to put down between 380-420 awhp on 93 octane.

You can imagine that such a vehicle is a 'ticking bomb' and is no longer wise to use it as a daily driver due to reliability issues, so I had been thinking of getting a reliable daily driver. I had been looking at my Dad's SVX for about 2 weeks realizing what a little jem of a car he chose, when he finds another one, same year and options, not too far away. That was mine:

#2: 1995 Green SVX, 120K bone stock, good conditions inside-out

One one side I am very happy I found this community due to the quality of people that frequent it and the infinite resources. On the other side however, I am trying not to look too much in the 'MOD-section' because I am supposed to keep my hands off of this one and keep it stock! :D

I am very glad however that there is a 5-speed kit out there, and I don't exclude in the future to consider it since this is my first AT car and I don't enjoy that part at all. Which reminds me to ask you this question: how good are 'smallcar' products? The pictures on their website are low quality, and although I saw on eBay a 5-speed SVX converted by them and it did look very nicely done, the interior picture on their site almost looks like the stick-shift has been 'Photoshopped' on it. Does anybody have links to better AT to MT pictures?

Well, I am sorry for the long post, I am honored to be part of this community and I look forward experiencing the SVX experience for years to come.

Regards,

Walter

Welcome! Welcome! (double welcome for 2 SVX's!) :)

That's awesome that both you and your pops can share in the SVXtasy! :D

DSM's are awesome and I've personally seen several run low 12's/ high 11's in the 1/4 with dyno pulls of over 450hp at the wheels.

Great cars! Got pics????

Hello Chike, thanks for the warm welcome!
My Dad already 'stole' the Service Manual, original SVX pen and cup holders from mine!!!
Now I know why he wanted me to buy it so much! :p

Anyways, DSM are amazine little machines indeed, I've had so much fun with mine over the years,
it surely surprises a lot of people. ;)

Unfortunately I don't have any recent picture of my Talon, I am waiting for new wheels before I take some high quality new pics. Here's a small pic of my engine bay when I used to have my old setup with internally gated old 50-trim Snail and OEM Karman MAF. Engine bay.

Feel free to visit our website, I am responsible for the Miami Chapter of the National Club DSM.
Nothing special, but feel free to pass by and say hi.

Pics to come.

Hi and welcome

If there is anything better than an SVX it is TWO SVX's!!

:D

Hopefully won't be too long before a 400hp SVX emerges!

Cheers

James

Awesome engine bay pic! Those 4G63 blocks in DSM's are so moddable - they are like the Skyline GT-R's of the US.

Sounds like your dad is a guy I'd get along with! :D

Welcome to the sight I hope you enjoy your svx as much as your dsm. Speaking of dsm my friend and I just Bought a 1990 eagle talon tsi awd. It is nice and we plan to use it as a track car.

Well then my friend, you will love this story.
Please take your time and go through those pages, these guys were able to run an 11.8@117mph with a FWD DSM for ~$3200 including the price of the car! If you take ideas from them, you can run low 11s with the same setup, just because you have the unfair advantage: AWD. :D

Wow Thats cool. I have pics of the dsm in my locker if you would like to take a look. I'll shoot some more pics when I get the chance. Anyway enjoy your svx's, and welcome to the club.

Hey Miles,
your Talon is same exact color trim as mine, it will be a fun project, trust me. And don't hesitate contacting me if you have any question or need any discount... I will pass the Club discount to you... shhh!

Nice SVX yours, I wish mine was white with black top. Oh well.
Where did you get the aluminized dash trim accents if I may ask?

Walter
