New ATF Flow Diagrams
I made simplified diagrams of the various ATF flow configurations (with the proper IN and OUT lines) for auxiliary coolers in the series, parallel, and bypass configurations. They are in my locker in the ATF FLOW DIAGRAMS folder.

Nice diagrams of the different configurations John. I will put them in the How-To Locker for you. :)

ATF COUNTER FLOW DIAGRAMS

I also added the "counter-flow" diagrams that svx_ commuter sent to me. They are in the COUNTER FLOW DIAGRAMS folder, inside the main folder for ATF FLOW DIAGRAMS
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/user.php?svxcess|10580 His explanation of counter flow for the tranny fluid makes sense. He connects the hoses to flow INTO the driver's side and uses a manually operated diverter valve to control fluid flow. Here is the SUMMER diagram: |

and the WINTER configuration

I put all of these under a folder named "ATF Flow Configurations" in the How-To Locker. Thanks for all of your work John. :)

Just to help out the controversy.
Here is the diagram from the Chilton Manual which clearly shows the ATF cooler inlet (#15 & 18) and outlets (#16 & 19) to the radiator. This is the 1985-92 Manual #8305. The new manual dropped the diagram. I installed my filter and cooler using this diagram. Filter's been in a year, cooler for a month. No Problems thus far. |
