Grinding noise at acceleration! Help

When I accelerate, a grinding noise seems to be coming from the engine. Only when I accelerate

Hey

I am guessing it could be your timing belt, or fan belt needs re-adjusting

Does the noise follow the engine speed or the wheel speed? If you down shift does it change the grinding speed noise? Doe sit sound like sheet metal or something thicker?
