SVX vs. '03 Accord coupe v6

Hey all. Last night I went out and my friend wanted to know if his car was a lot faster than the svx. I knew I'd probably lose but I just thought I'd try it since I rarely go over 3000 RPM on my daily driving.

Before I get frowned upon I dont race and it was on a noncongested road that turns into interstate. It was the last light before the road becomes an interstate. I thought he would kill me because the new ones pack 240 hp. Also keep in mind that it was still wet out. We lined up and there was no one on the road and when the light turned green we went. Immediately I had the jump on him because his wheels spun for 2-3 seconds before his traction control kicked in. I immediately had 3-5 car lengths on him and once I got to 50 I was around 8 car lengths and then he started to real me in. We both went up to 80 before letting down and I finished with 3-4 car lengths. I'm sure it would have been quite even in dry weather.

His car is actually geared a lot higher than our cars I believe, because at 70 he was doing around 2200 RPM. It seems like the new Accord v6 automatic is about the same as the SVX in terms of acceleration and gearing.

After that we both did 20 minutes of highway travelling and I always idle the car at least 5 minutes before shutting down. Anyways, I thought I'd share the experience with you guys.

i'm pretty impressed that you were able to keep up. AWD will provide you with a plesant advantage over any 2WD vehicle in any sort of incliment weather, but in the dry it's a bit of a different story, provided whoever is driving the 2WD knows what (s)he's doing.

I was running behind a new accord a few months back and i couldn't possibly have kept up with it the way you describe, which must mean that it was a 6-speed manual transmission car.. i'm sure they're geared for acceleration at the low end and high speed at the top end. i'll bet we're pretty even with the automatic accords though..

How would a 5 speed SVX do against the manual accords?

I've got exhaust on my car(custom). I raced a 2002 V6 Accord and we stayed dead even all the way from 0 to 100 three times in a row... I dunno what the Accord had except a custom exhaust system as well, just some guy i saw on the street and smiled at so i couldn't tell ya what else he might have had.

Don't the V6 Accords with the new body style have 240 horse stock?

Edit: I dunno if he was auto or manual

I took a 01 V6 Accord coupe for a ride the other day. Not to impressed it was raining and with a spirited stomp it wouldn't brake the tire free, and I stomped it at speed and all it did was down shift, rev higher, and didn't go any faster( even Hondas auto trannys suck). The thing even red lined at a low (for a Honda) 6,250 RPM's. I imagine a manual would be alot better, as always.
