SVX was totalled in the end :-(
So in the end my car was just hot too hard. The whole drive line was shifted over and the conclusion was that the car could never be "right again". So Monday morning Suki, my 94 Pearl LS gets hauled to wherever State Farm is going to salvage her. She provided 16 years of amazing automotive adventures. I really hadn't imagined replacing such a wonderful car.
So if anyone is interested I can ind out where the car is going. The car had a great LS interior, perfect glass, all the body panels and rear spoiler are in great shape, low miles rebuilt 2WD transaxle, 135K strong engine that had just been resealed. Recent alternator. All power steering comments were in excellent shape. Two tool kits, one new. perfect spare tire, good sun visors, new mats. Sun roof was working great. Power windows were prefect. All the drive line was excellent. I'm trying to mention anything someone might find useful to keep another one of these wonderful cars on the road. So in case anyone was wondering what I'd find to replace this incredible car, I purchased a Hyundai Genesis Coupe. I got the V6 with the 'track pack" in the limited edition Yellow. A very "frisky" car for sure. Not quite as comfortable as Suki was for so many years. The Hyundai is definitely skewed towards the "track" as compared to the "highway". I hope that I can get to like the more "harsh" nature of the experience. Not as "unique" as the SVX, but I couldn't think of anything you can buy new today that is. I definitely enjoyed the community events I could attend. I'll keep track of the local gatherings and may have to pop in when I can to remind me of what I loved so much about my car while I was lucky enough to have her. (I'm spending the evening before she is hauled away thinking of some the amazing road trips I had in the car, experiences like a freak blizzard in El Paso TX on New Years Day where my SVX was one of the only cars on the road that could make it out of the city...). Well, I now have to leave the important task of keeping this wonderful cars alive to the rest of you! Michle |

Poor SVX, I'm sorry for your loss. :(

Re: SVX was totalled in the end :-(
Yuck, replaced it with a Hyundai? I would have gone with a Legacy 3.6R myself, but at least it didn't get replaced with an Accent or something like that. You should buy it back from insurance, maybe someone on here would buy it :P

Please let us know where its going to go for salvage. I'm looking for a few parts to get my Polo back on the road.

Re: SVX was totalled in the end :-(
Does it have a plain gray dash instead of the woodish kind? I've been lusting for a different dash.
If it has a black tail, those are sought after. Not so easy to find a black spoiler (Sue had to drive around with a blue one for a couple of months). Are you grabbing the portables (tool kits, mats and whatnot)? BTW, since I'm not inclined to invite nonsvx friends to the meets, you can likely ride (or drive) with me if you get nostalgic for your lost SVX and wanna come to a gathering. |
Re: SVX was totalled in the end :-(
