good bye svx, hello bmw
its finally been decided
ive found an e30 to buy:)...but parting with the svx will be no easy task ive only had the car for about 8 months, but the car has been part of the family for a few years now the svx is simply just too expensive for me to maintain the car is up for sale here in omaha, ne if youre interested, there is a thread in the "for sale" section titled "'92 Claret LS-L" heres a few pics of the e30 im getting the pics dont do it justice, and yes it is only primered flat black (im nicknaming it PRIMUS:D, im hoping someone will catch on) i can assure you it will look MUCH MUCH better once its in my hands, and i hope to have it painted sometime in the near future http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...mw/primus3.jpg http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...bmw/primus.jpg http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...mw/primus2.jpg |

Something leads me to believe you just prefer the BMW > SVX. ;)

Nice. I spent a bit of time in a '79 e21 (or was it a 320i?). Fantastic, loveable car, just needs a fifth gear to be perfect in my opinion.

but when my step dad got his m3, i kinda fell into the bmw trap parts are so ridiculously cheap, its insane and i have a feeling it will be a bit easier to work on...after i changed the spark plugs in the svx by myself i found out where they were located on the e30 and it almost made me want to cry |

Huh? you are talking about a BMW right? They are the absolute most expensive parts and maintenance, worse than a Mercedes. Are we on the same planet? I'm comfused:confused::confused: |
I agree with Ownbot.
I had a 1985 BMW M3 series coupe. That BMW was a real money pit. The letters really stood for Battered My Wallet. I think the SVX is much more reliable in every respect. On those days when the Bimmer wasn't in the shop, it was fun to drive, but absolutely worthless in the snow! . |
I really don't understand. That instead of a SVX?  :o

I never understood the cult obsession with e30's. They are supposed to be a great for auto-x, but I' guess I'm not a huge fan. Maybe its a BMW thing, just like we have an obsession with our car, and to the outsider it's just another car.

My neighbor just bought a BMW 123 convertible. Nice car. They are trying to get my wife to buy a BMW and told her that I would NOT sell my SVX for it. They were a bit surprised when I refused to give up my SVX for a BMW. :D
Steve You can take my SVX when you pry my cold dead fingers off the steering wheel" |

SVX all the way
My local mechanic is a Czech and all he preaches is Beamers and Benzes. He has 1973 Bmw 2002 in his garage that has about 3 inches of dust on it. I told him why dont you keep a cover on it, and he says seeing it hasnt been started or moved in 20+ years he doesnt want moisture building up on it. This guy does meticulous work, but hes the ultimate slob:lol: Hes so unorganized its not even funny. He literally has hundres of cardboard boxes of all sizes sitting on the ground around his 73 beamer and anywhere else he can find room with tools in them. Sometimes it takes him an hour to find a specific socket or wrench.:o As far as trading my SVX for a beamer, I dont think so, as much as I like a lot of the beamers, specfically the M series, there is nothing like an SVX period. I like being different. I think the E30's are butt ugly anyway. Who in there in right mind would get rid of their SVX for that little square tub on wheels:lol:.

This is real simple Earl

1. Is like "have your cake and eat it too"! 2. "Sell your SVX and keep it too"! (oops, that 1st thing may just be a Texas saying? On second thought, havent heard the 2nd one before) It takes me so long to type I changed my mind. Now I am you Earl... Got to be a typo.:D Have fun! :) Keith |
