yeah but it's really hard to find just one head light

WestCoastSVX 01-22-2008 02:02 PM

Yeah I haven't really looked that hard, but in 7+ years I have never heard of anyone having those over here or even figuring out how to order them from Germany (BTW, I think the auction is wrong and only Germany ever had glass headlights, Japan and Europe had plastic like ours, although they may have the levelers). So it may be another 7 years before you found a match for it. :D

Well there must be a way if the seller has one in NY, but probably not an inexpensive way. ;)

They may not yellow, but they still have all the lines on the lenses that give it that dated look. 100% clear lenses look better, IMO, but of course there isn't a plug 'n' play, OEM look solution to that.... yet..... :D

I'm pretty sure SVXcess has a set of these.

Manarius 01-22-2008 03:37 PM

They aren't plug and play? No fun. I want non-crappy headlights that don't involve me having to hack up my stock ones. Plus I like the beam pattern of the fog lamp.

SVXRide 01-23-2008 02:44 PM

Well, Matt (Immortal Subi) is the current high bidder, so I'm not going to bother bidding...

I might just bid on it then so Matt can't have it!

Troy

The auction detail is partly wrong, but so are you:rolleyes::)

Europe and the UK got glass headlights. UK glass lights dip to the left, German and continental lights dip to the right, which is correct for your roads.

My latest '92 has the UK glass lenses, and as I drove it home to Ireland in the dark I have to say the light pattern is so far ahead of the plastic lens output, it's off the scale.

This one the seller says is from Germany, and that would make it a correct choice. It will bolt into position no problem, but not exactly plug and play. The Euro light bulbs are different, you probably have to substitute your own type bulb. Plus, the Euro/UK lamps have the parking light inside the headlamp unlike your US type which relies on the corner lamp. That has to be rewired, but not a big job.

This lamp like mine has no fog lamp on the inside, just a blank silvered reflector.

The seller is wrong in saying Japan had glass lights, they got plastic also, but including the foglights. Japanese lamps also have the parking light inside the main lamp housing, not at the corner.

lol, there is no way that thing will sell for what my bid is. Feel free to outbid!

LetItSnow 01-28-2008 09:45 AM

So who bagged it?

SubaruSVXCrazy 01-28-2008 10:52 AM

I was really going to buy it but I figured............... Ok I got one now lets find the other. Chances are then next time you see them and they'll come in a set.
And for the time being you'd be like a guy wearing glasses with a missing lense.

I bought a $60 german light. :o But theres only one...................

Did you actually buy it? No?

At $86 it was a bit of a bargain. I know what you say above is partially true. Murphy's Law dictates that when you look for one, there will be only zero for sale, or two for sale.:D

However I have found when looking for them before that with crashed cars it's often the case that one lamp is broken and the other is OK. You could be lucky.:p
