What's wrong with this VIN?
Here is a picture of the plate inside the door of an SVX showing the VIN number.
http://www.nyrebuildables.com/img2.p...svx041_big.jpg Whiskey Tango Foxtrot??????  What is with the "8" in the 6th position? Is there something I'm missing? I thought they were all 3.3's. Here is a link to the listing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=260147592965. If anybody knows what is going on with this VIN, let me know. |
Hmm, not sure. I've read through a bunch of stuff and it doesn't seem to match upw tih anything. the 8 indicates 3.0L awd.

This is a mystery to me. I don't understand why the 8. :o
|
probably because they switched to 215 series tires:rolleyes: :p

EDIT: Okay, that came out wrong. I'm sure there are lots of members with '97's. Any other members who own a '97, please check in with your VIN. ;) |
The wheels are on backwards...that's why!:p
|
I'm gonna venture a guess and say you guys aren't missing .3 litres of displacement :D

Wikipedia shows the 6th digit as an "8" for the 3300cc/3.3L AWD
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_VIN_codes The serial number for my 96 Polo has an 8 for the 6th digit. . |

Your 97 Polo VIN was missing a digit. You only had 16. The model (LSi) is the seventh digit. Here is your correct VIN: JF1CX8659VH100185 |
