How long is it all going to last

Well i joined this forum and got my svx just when it seemed all the interesting thigs were happening. Performance cams, custom radiator, toms 6speed swap, the stage III, etc....I dont know what this forum was like years before or how long these type of performance mods will continue. How many of you guys plan on keeping your svx for years to come? Will this forums still be active 2-3-4 years from now? ......id like to hear some predictions.

I'll be here. Keeping my SVX until it asplodes.

Modding and stuff is going at about 1/4 the speed I had planned due to... reasons.
Sudden maintenance, repairs, claims...

20k into the X including purchase price, and I still don't have street tires.. :|

I don't see us stopping any time soon. Just think, it started a couple years ago with the 4.11/4.44 swaps, 5spd swaps, Stage 1... Now we have 6mt swaps, Stage 3/ Stage 2v5, Cams, Custom suspension and other advances. Just imagine what another 2-3 years of innovation and hard work will produce.

I'm a failry new SVX owner. But my mom owned 2 back in 01-02 and thats when I first found out about this forum and almost bought a 92 Ebony from Long Island. Fast forward 4 years and I own a beautiful 92 Pearl thats done up pretty nicely and I'm just getting started.

I think a few of us will be around for the long haul. ;) :) :)

How did you spend 20k:eek: ....i would say I have about 5000 in my car including purchase price 2k for car 500 for pwr rad....500 for wheels and tires, 400 for d/s rotors, and about 1.5k total for my low mileage engine and some perf mods + misc.

immortal_suby 06-20-2006 07:51 PM

We'll be here.
I remember being at a certain tennessee meet when Huck told us all he planned on doing a 5 speed and we wished him good luck. Next thing we knew he did it.
Now we have superchargers, cams, xt's with the eg33. Who knows what will come next.

Rest assured. Alot of us are infatuated with the svx and will always have one.

Also, 184$ new registration, 100$ expired reg ticket, 210$ expired emmission ticket don't make modding any easier.
Life is hard. xD

They're going to have to carry me out of here in a pine box.

Keeping mine until I graduate atleast (hopefully turn it into a project car after that) or it explodes...one of the two.

Word. :)

I think about selling my SVX every so often. I've even half-heartedly offered it to Earl in the past. But my wife and I both love the car and don't intend to ever sell it.

DanSVX94 06-21-2006 08:52 AM

You're not allowed to leave -- it's a cult! :D

The really bad thing about driving an SVX is if you ever pull a bonehead move in your town -- whomever you cut off or annoy can always spot you in the future because the car is so unique. I try to be extra polite in the SVX and let my badself emerge in the Outback :D Not really.

Asplotion is just a reason to rebuild it even better. I've also broke the 20K mark.

$8000 Purchase
$2000 Wheel & Tires(2 sets)
$5000 Stage III
$7000ish 6-speed
$1000 Exhaust (3 versions)

plus there's the stuff not currently on the car. Not to metion I've fried about 5 belts in the last 2 months. Plus the list I still need to do.

SubaSteevo 06-21-2006 09:42 AM

I've been around quite a while, and I don't see this forum going anywhere any time soon. While I'm not sure how much longer I'll have my SVX, I will probably hang around here still, and if I do sell it, chances are I'll be buying another one later on down the road.

TomsSVX 06-21-2006 09:44 AM

Well I have a good amount sunk into my SVXi and I plan to keep them both. I was tossing around the idea of scrapping both of em and moving on... but then I remembered the blood sweat and tears I have out into all of my SVXi and feel to sell them would be a total loss. Listed below is what I have emptied into my Silver 6mt, this does not include what I had done to my two previous SVXi including my record breaker.

1900 purchase
4000 6mt
500 Stage 2v5
500 PWR radiator
100 Silicone Rad Hoses
700 RX7 wheels and Cooper tires
100 LS interior
250 Momo Steering wheel
100 WRX CD changer and harnesses
15 Short shifter;)
400 N20 Kit
8565 total

Thats about it for now. In a couple weeks there will be some things added to the list;)

I don't plan to sell my SVX anytine soon (in fact, I expect to eventually cave-in to the desire to have another) and as long as I have one, I'll hang-out here.

I've put 600+ miles on the old gal since Saturday. Flawless. Average fuel economy better than 27 MPG over that span, in spite of getting hung-up in Braves/Red Sox traffic Friday and Atlanta rush hour yesterday afternoon. Broke out of that traffic, set the cruise at just a tick over 2500 RPM (80 MPH), turned-up the stereo, and smiled. The more I drive this car, the more I love it.
