roof rack on SVX

Hi - Has anyone ever come up with an effective way to mount a Yakima or Thule roof rack on an SVX? I built a kayak last year and want to be able to transport it, but Yakima doesn't have any suggestions. I'm sure the funky windows are the reason, but has anyone overcome this? Thanks. Marc

It has less to do with the windows and more to do with the lack of rain gutters. Thule and Yakima have rack systems for cars without gutters. Whether or not they make something that they know fits on the car is another thing. You may have to find the gutterless model, find a local dealer, and try it out.

I will warn you that no gutters means the rack will have big pads that will rest on the roof, scratching and probably denting it in the process.

Rolla is a rack that works great on our cars. Do a search and you will find some info on it. :)

Thanks for the suggestions and info, everyboddy. Ryu, what is the JP catalog? Thanks. BTW, i picked up my SVX on Wednesday, test drove it and it was wonderful; by the time i got it home (300 miles) the left rear wheel bearing was howling, so now it's parked until i can get the bearing replaced. I've ordered a bearing qand hope to have it this week. I've also ordered an external ATF filter, drilled and slotted rotors, semi-metallic pads, and SS lines. Next will be an ATF cooler

I'm glad you got your SVX! I had same left rear bearing problem too. I got it fixed, felt like different car!

JP catalogue = Japanese SVX Catalogue. I have some Japanese items related to SVX.
