What is this hose?

I need a new one of these because mine is cracked and broken, but I dont know what the heck it is. I was hoping some of you might be able to tell me what the name of it is and what its function is. here is a picture of the hose.

hose

It is your right side pcv (positive crankcase ventilation) hose. There's also one on the other side. They carry the crankcase vapors to a fitting near the airbox where they are sucked into the intake manifold to be reburned. I just replaced both from subaruparts.com, and now it idles better, too!

thank you

hose

Probably won't hurt much, but you may get some oil spray on the engine around any hose hole, and the engine is inhaling unfiltered air thru the gaps in the hose. Also, any air that is pulled in thru the leaking hose is bypassing the MAF so it alters the mixture some...probably what changed my idle after hose replacement.
