Exhaust noise
 

When I step on gas(rev the engine) a puffing noise comes from underneath the driver's seat. It is being very loud.. but when the gear shifts to a higher level, the noise reduces. A mechanic told me that some kind of gasket in the exhaust sytem is worn out. is it a common problem? Can anyone tell me the ease of installing the part by myself?

Its probably the gasket between the center cat and the center pipe. Often this leak is more prominent when the car is cold such as in the morning. The gasket is about $20. I imagine the labor to replace would be between $60-$100.
