speed sensors

are speed sensors universal or do the various years and drivelines (fwd/awd) make any difference.

for instance could you take a 92 speed sensor and put it into a 94fwd or 97awd or visa versa?

they are the same for all years.

The 2002 WRX speed sensor from a manual will work as well. I'm running it today. Also, many parts, even with different part numbers, across different models are compatible as well. Subaru does'nt want you to know this. They make more money marketing parts this way.

Aren't the latter speed sensors, a Hall Effect unit,? The SVX ones are magnetic.

I have also confirmed they are interchangable.

David do you know if the latter ones are Hall Effect? I heard that some where. They have different output signals, square to Sine.

I believe they are both square. It's hard for me to test right now. Both sensors I have work perfectly with the SVX.

The SVX has a Hall Effect. Well, the one I took apart after it died was a Hall Effect. Although, I don't know if it was the original pickup or if it had been replaced before I bought it.
