Counteractrust.com experience?
Perusing the Sac Bee Auto section yesterday I came across info on a newer electronic rust prevention technology that sounded interesting. Reading product info at http://www.counteractrust.com and searching through old threads on the subject I thought to ask for any testimonials or otherwise from the membership.
Has anyone actually purchased the product, and if so are you convinced one way or the other that it performs as advertised? Anyone??? Glenn |
Re: Counteractrust.com experience?
I've seen lots about it on various TV shows, Shadetree Mechanic etc. I think it falls under the category of: "If it works that good every car maker would be using it". Same as all the $29.99 miracle mileage makers.

Re: Counteractrust.com experience?
I've seen evidence for and against those things. On the one hand, ships, oil rigs, etc. (big metal things that live in highly corrosive environments) have used them for years, so they must be good, right? The arguement against is that for these things to work properly the metal must be in contact with an electrically conductive solution (ie; salt water) to properly transmit the electric current and create the sort of protection they claim. Also, there has to be metal-metal contact (no paint in between) for this to work properly.
If you look at cars with these installed, you'll see they are almost always rust free and very clean. Shockingly enough, the owners who go through that sort of effort probably care enough about their vehicles to also undercoat their cars every year, which by itself is a solidly proven rust-inhibitor. For me there isn't enough evidence that these things work miracles. I can achieve the same results with regular maintenance. |

Re: Counteractrust.com experience?
The manufacturer's site states their technology is significantly different than the older "impressed current cathodic protection and anodic protection" to which you refer, and is designed to operate in a free, open air environment. I'm really looking for actual experience from users here. If you wish to comment, at least take a look at the supplied link before doing so. Thanks.

Re: Counteractrust.com experience?
I think that's the same product by the same name that CVM Subaru sold to my mom back in 92 (well my dad made them add it if they wanted the sale after the best deal was made). Suprised their still in business. It didn't stop much rust if any. Rusted in the usual Lego Turbo spots.

Re: Counteractrust.com experience?
I have one similar to this in one of mine. I will check the name on it. The car is rust free and came from Columbus, Ohio. I don't know if that is why it is rust free, but I will check on some of the details. :)
