OT: Toyota F1

Mika Salo drove the Toyota TF102 car and posted the 6th-fastest time in today's practice.

I would have been thrilled with 15th, but SIXTH!?!?!?!?

I know, I know, testing times don't mean that much. But this is the team's FIRST ever practice in their FIRST ever GP.

I am thrilled beyond words. Qualifying will be shown live tonight at 9PM EST and I am positively GIDDY with excitement.

Funny, I don't remember anything about 'brought it home'. :D :D

As my mentor, Bugs Bunny, once said, "Ain't I a stinker?" :)

Salo and McNish qualified 14th and 16th but in all fairness the session was washed out for anyone who was planning on a late fast time.
As usual though, it was a Ferrari, Williams, McLaren top six. Don't expect anything different in the race tonight.

Woo-Hoo!! Sixth for Mika Salo in the Toyota! I'm just glad Toyota got a point right off the bat for their first race. They're off to a good start.

Too bad the same can't be said for Ralfi-Boy! :p What was he thinking? I can't figure out why that wasn't red flagged. You would think they'd want more than 12 or 13 cars running beyond the first lap.

I agree, the race should have been red glagged. I bet I can guess what Rubens was thinking as Ralf went sailing over his head
As for the race - same old, same old. It's going to be a long season for the rest of the boys.

I had to wait to watch it until last night at 1AM. At 1:30AM, when it finally started, I was almost yelling at Ralf.

But I was so excited that Salo and Toyota scored a point that I still couldn't sleep when it was over at 4AM. :D

i was really......

pissed when trulli wrecked. he was doing great and then suddenly in a sweeping turn the car got away from him and BAM, he met Mr. Wall.

that pass that M. Schumacher made on Moreno was just awesome. he played the kid like a piano. in the beginning that was one of the most thrilling races i have ever seen, then michael ran away.

Moreno???

<whistle>

Haven't been a fan for very long, have you? ;)

That was Juan Pablo Montoya. And, yes, it was a brilliant pass. Michael and JPM will have quite the battle this year, I think.

i dont know why i wrote moreno....???

i have been a F1 fan for quite some time now. montoya came up through go-karts. rich kid from columbia i think.

i was talking to a friend of mine in CA about Cart and the IRL so i had Moreno on the brain.

thanks for catching me and taking full advantage. ;)

oh, and i am a nigel mansell fan......no rookie F1 fan here my friend. :p

Yeah, I've got a few in my Yahoo briefcase. Feel free to take a look. It's a lot of fun, and have enjoyed modifying it. I do miss my SVX, though, but am only willing to own one car at a time at this point in my life. http://briefcase.yahoo.com/richeich_93

On another note, I used to live in Arlington Heights! I was in 2nd and 3rd grade, back in like '74 and '75. I can picture the the house, but can't remember the address. It was just east of the hospital, right by where Central Rd. (I think) does a 'Y'.
