Insurance Rates

I was wondering what types of premiums people are paying for the svx. I just got married and combined our svx's under the same policy and with full coverage through GMAC it is only $956 a year for both svx's. This just seems really cheap compared to what I've heard from others. I was paying $799 a year for just mine with the same coverage.

If I figure out now to post a poll, I'll add it to this.

Ah the joys of being 19...

KEVINL 07-16-2001 08:17 PM

$157 a month $1884 a year ouch

The funny thing is the trooper is $28 or $336 a year

I am 23. I have 2 accidents and a couple of speeding tickets under my title -- thus crazy guy with red svx title.

I am paying 500 for 1 year (liab. only and 1200 for full coverage)

but the insurance WILL pay back 10000 for my LE (they told me it's LE). -- Yeah right

Lwin:(

I'm paying 216.50 for the year.

I'm paying $850.00 annually w/$500.00 deductible on collision through GEICO in a semi-urban region of Maryland. The car is categorized as a "performance" vehicle. This rate is with a five year "good" driver allowance. I've had no moving violations in over 10 years. We are going to be all over the board on insurance rates due to the premiums based upon the localities in which we reside, & the state's requirements on minimum liabilities. The same car with the same driver will have the insurance be raised by 50% just by changing zip codes. Tsu.

I am 25, perfect history and on a 1992 SVX valued at $19,000 I was quoted between $3500 and $5000!!!

Why?

"Sir, it is a coupe and a sports car like a WRX"
"Its not a WRX and its an automatic 2 door that no one here wants!!!" (WRX being one of the most stolen or attempted to be stolen cars in the country!!)
"Sir, its a two door sports car. You have to pay extra when you buy a performance sports car"
"Fair enough...can I get a qoute on a V6 5 speed Camry value: $30,000"
"Of course! Thats more realistic for a young man (!!!!) That will be $1500 per year" (note: millions of Camrys - huge likelihood of rebirth etc etc.....249 SVX's left in Australia! Go figure!!! Good luck trying to sell a stolen SVX cf stolen Camry!!!"

I replied "Well, the Camry will beat an SVX to 100kph by about 2 secs so which is the sports car?" and slammed the phone down.

*&%^%^% insurance companies - I cannot stand them!!!

Ya know, like, are we just, like, supposed to assume, eh, that those are American dollars, eh?

Like, I mean, you Americans think you're the centre of the universe, eh?

So, eh, if I pay $1000CDN, for my insurance, eh, am I supposed to vote for $1000, eh, or $600-700, eh?

:D

i have heard progressive is really good.

one of my friends uses progressive and he has been very satisfied with their rates and their customer service. i think i am about to switch to them.

SvXit 07-17-2001 08:52 AM

I Had to Leave Progressive...

They were charging way too much, but with them the area you live in makes a huge difference. When I was with Progressive in Hawaii they wanted $648/year for liability, $1032/year for full coverage; I chose liability. When I moved back to the Maryland area and was living in Prince George's County, Progressive wanted -- hold on to something sturdy -- $3636/year for full coverage, $2460 for liability. I chose the latter and began a furious search for a place in another county. When I moved to Montgomery County, MD, Prog. wanted $1740/year for liability. I recently switched to Allstate and am paying $1388/year for full coverage. Still a nice chunk of change, but the bill isn't nearly as ugly as it used to be.

damn.....

i will have to be really careful then. you think you know......but then someone enlightens you. thanks for the knowledge.

Oh... Almost Forgot

Not to badmouth them too badly, but when my younger brother went to buy a Mazda 626 and had to call Progressive to get his insurance updated, they wanted about $400.00/month out of him for full coverage because they claimed the 626 was a sports car. The finance guy went apes@#$ and was [] this close to bouncing off the walls. And I mean really actually bouncing. My brother decided to get a Protege instead and hopes to trade it in on something else soon. All three of us are still mystified at how the 626 got lumped in with the RX-7!

Insurance companies are rather dubious about their classifications. I sit in amazement at what some of you guys pay. I think some of you are paying "sport car" rates. I'm paying the same as I would any 6 cyl. sedan. For some reason, my agent doesn't have the SVX listed as a sport car (Allstate). Thank goodness, since I'll have the dreaded "unmarried driver under 25" on my policy soon.
