Round 2: Bone Stock '06 WRX TR 1/4 mile times
I went to Richmond Dragway in Sandston, VA for round 2 today! The track is ~100ft above sea level and according to the National Weather Service conditions were as follows:
Temp: 55 deg F (at time of 1st run), 60 deg F (at time of my 2nd run) Relative Humidity: 24 % Barometer: 30.14 in. Hg Dewpoint: 20°F (-7°C) My car is 100% bone stock with 6,800 miles on the odometer. I'm running a 'true' factory stock set-up (nothing from the intake, intake resonator, turbo, intercooler, exhaust, engine management, etc has been changed). I used Shell 93 octane gas (had just over a 1/4 tank) and my tire pressures were set at 40psi all around. Only weight reduction I did was remove my spare tire (left jack in the trunk). I weigh 170lbs. I got to the track early and my engine was able to cool for 1.5 hours before my first pass. I made 2 passes and launched at 5,000rpms w/ clutch slip. I'm car #22: Run 1 (I bogged the launch) 60ft: 2.0688 330ft: 5.8446 1/8th: 8.9866 MPH: 79.44 1/4: 13.9679 MPH: 98.53 Run 2 (decent launch) 60ft: 1.9433 330ft: 5.6327 1/8th: 8.7650 MPH: 79.31 1/4: 13.7468 MPH: 98.25 http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d1...RTimeslips.jpg Here are a few pics from the day: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d1...06/WRXTR01.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d1...06/WRXTR02.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d1...06/WRXTR05.jpg A Ram SRT-10 that was in the parking lot but never ran: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d1...3RamSRT-10.jpg This was a cool turbo-charged twin rotary RX-7 that competed in NOPI last season and was switching to NHRA this year: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d1...06NOPIRX-7.jpg Cliff Notes: Bone stock '06 WRX TR goes 13.74@98.25 mph |
Chike,
Congrats on the time! Now, isn't it time to start playing with the boost;) :D -Bill |

Nope. No power mods just yet - when I get some extra money I'm going to go for some spare wheels and r-compound tires. AutoX baby! :) I won't be going back to the strip until the Fall. I'm happy with my times for now - fyi, my 13.74 is the fastest confirmed 1/4 mile run by an '06 WRX to date. -Chike |

I was lined up next to that SRT-4 in the staging lanes and he mentioned he was Mopar Stage 1 (14psi boost, intake & exhaust) and had run a 13.6 a few weeks earlier. I told him I was bone stock and ran a 14.01 at VMP. When our lanes started moving, his friend in a WS-6 pulled off to the side and he moved in front of him so he wouldn't have to run against me. He ended up running a 14.34 @100mph on his run. I offered to race him on my second run but he didn't want to go again - said he wasn't getting any traction. Oh well, I guess the SRT-4 is the fastAr!!! :D :D :D |

Cobb saw 170whp on their awd Mustang dyno for the '02-'05 WRXs. They recorded 202whp for the '06 WRX on the exact same dyno (FYI - a stock STI makes around 236whp on that dyno). |
I think the SRT-4 suffers from FWD syndrome. :p
Those guys over at Nabisco should be happy with your times. :D |

Yeah, quite a few people over there are positive, but there seems to be a small contingent of flame throwers.

Perhaps the SRT4 driver doesn't know how to launch that day...and the AWD TR does help in better launch... I'm happy with your time too, chike. :D Do you have/know about any info that what're the quickest 1/4 mile times for stock EVO(MR) and STI(Spec C) up to today? :D |
